I didn’t say he was ideal. But if a RHP is throwing in the 8th and Johan is due. I would probably rather have Adam hit there. Once everyone is healthy we hopefully won’t have to worry about it.

There are pitchers I'd rather have hitting than either Johan or Adam in that situation.

Statcast is funny on this fringe case.

Let’s say the CFer is playing on the warning track and the batter hits a ball barely over the fence. The CFer takes 3 steps, jumps up and catches the ball.

Hitter “should have” had a .900 BA and 3.500 SLG on the batted ball, but since the CFer moved 10’ its classified a routine catch for defensive tracking.

That difference should be credited to the defensive positioning analysts!! Now we have a stat to judge the nerds, and can start paying them based on WAR!! Time to update my resume!!

If only you had shown the Johns a few years ago you know how to read a spreadsheet. You'd be calling the shots by now.
