GDT 8/21/21: Braves @ Orioles - Going for my 30th win

This winning streak is so unexpected and a total turnaround from earlier in the season. Sure, we are beating up on bad teams on the road, but you can't always expect to win all of those games. We are taking care of business.

If Touki doesn’t get shelled tomorrow and gives up 3 or less again do you trust him more then Smiles and give him the 5 spot?
I do.
Of course I say that and he will give up his patented 7 spot but all things being equal he’s been significantly better then our 15 million dollar man.

It would be great if we started smyly for 2 times thru the lineup, and then go to touki.

It makes too much sense for Snit not to do it....

Always had faith the braves would win the division but this streak coupled with the implosion of the Mets and Phillies is a pleasant surprise. Looks like Snit might be setting up the playoff rotation the last ten days of the season.

Heredia last 30 games: .471 ops (doesn't include tonight's 0-4)

Hopefully Rosario can help fake CF as well but most likely it would be Joc everyday. It’s going to be a journey all year but we should focus on getting our best bags in the lineup and hope a poor play in CF doesn’t crush our playoff run.

The Braves are 15-3 this month. One of those three losses was Will Smith coughing up a 2-0 lead in the 9th to the hapless Nationals without Juan Soto.

Not so sure I'd say "completely unexpected" - the Gnats, Marlins, and Orioles are some pretty bad teams after the deadline, and Enscheff and others have been spot-on in pointing out that the Braves' luck turning was a bit overdue. Doesn't take a lot of luck to beat teams like that. As much as everyone hates to hear it, Snitker hasn't wavered a single time all year and constantly said they felt like there was a stretch like this coming. Maybe not quite THIS good, but he's consistently told everyone there was a really hot stretch coming even though we all rightly wondered at times.

That said, the division race going from jumbled to a potential laugher in the span of 10-12 days is plenty surprising - having BOTH the Phillies and Mutts flop this badly when the Braves went on a bit of a tear is pretty surprising. I thought they'd have enough fight in them to at least stay within reach so things would stay interesting if we struggle a bit as we go through the Yankees/Giants/Dodgers stretch. As was pointed out in the other thread, if the Braves play .500 ball the rest of the way the Phillies are going to need to go on a mini-tear.

Just don't see that happening personally, but...baseball.
