GDT: 8/26 Yankes @ Braves: Debut of next #MyAce

I like Anderson's fastball. Sits 94-95. Seems play faster (might be the changeup helps it or it could be something about Anderson's different arm slot). To the naked eye it looks like it has good rise (that's what I saw in his Alternate Site appearance the other day).

Haven't seen the curve much. He might be saving for the second time through or it might not be very good so he's not using it much.

Anderson has left a few pitches in the middle of the plate with no damage. Either he's got more movement than what we can see or getting very lucky.

I suspect the thought if the CH is keeping them off the FA a bit.

The CH appears to be plus, and he seems to locate it well.

Riley guessing FA, can't touch the 2 SLs in the middle of the zone. Then chases the SL because he was still guessing FA.

He's got deception and extension. Not a ton of movement. He looks like a MOR guy. Works for me. He can tinker with a slider hopefully.

Maybe, but I imagine an arm like that should be facing more than 3 batters.

True. Depends on how the Braves want to work the rotation in the future. If they're willing to use a guy who gives you 3 or 4 innings and never goes through a lineup more than twice, Anderson might fit that role. The fastball/change combo looks good enough for that. If they stick to more traditional methods, Anderson may fit best as a reliever. Still early and Anderson is still young enough to break out a new pitch.

I hope Anderson's strike throwing is the norm for him now. Walks were a problem for him and one of the big question marks for me.
