GDT: 8/26 Yankes @ Braves: Debut of next #MyAce

Remind us not to give a **** then if you get shot 7 times in the back for no reason.

If I’m a multiple-time felon, with a warrant for my arrest, fighting off police, disobeying orders at gun point and reaching for something under my seat... not only do I NOT want you care, but if you see anyone “Saying my name” make sure you educate them on waiting for details in the future.

Now, can we keep it baseball?

Should we protest tomorrow's games over the 14-year old that Jacob Blake sexually assaulted?

No, let’s keep it baseball, but when more info comes out... with a high probability of a knife in the hand and a gun under that seat... I think we should protest those same 5 posters on this board for spreading these disgusting communist ideologies.

Anderson didn’t look comfortable with the curve at all. Hopefully we see it more in his next start so we can evaluate it more. His control issues may have been overblown bc he was in the zone for the most part. I would like to see them scrap the curve and work on a slider if it’s as bad as some say.

Not sure what I expected from the comments after a no hitter through 5 innings, but this seems a little too harsh.

My favorite was striker declaring him a reliever.

I agree. "Pretty poor" was not how I would describer this outing. He threw strikes and they didn't hit them. He seemed unflappable and stuck to his plan.

The data will be interesting, but what we saw today was very encouraging.

20 years of no playoff success jades you

I think it’s interesting the board is thinking long term and reasonable. I’m sure the scout site is thinking 200 million extension

I'm curious how deception works when it comes to deciphering the data.

He has two plus pitches and one that really isn't major league quality. That sometimes fits better in the pen. I also said he's young enough to improve the curve or add another pitch.

Also, having two plus pitches that play together like that can make for a pretty dynamite reliever. If he can stay healthy and keep the command he showed today he fails safe as a high leverage reliever. That's not a bad thing.

I do think that Anderson start is huge for the deadline. Braves don’t look so desperate. Aa can tell people he doesn’t have to have a starter with a straight face.

I still think we need at least two 1 war pitchers but aa is in a better bargaining position.

Not ready to call the fastball plus. It was mostly 93-94 after the 2nd inning. It's straight and I do buy it as deceptive. Changeup is absolutely plus, no question.

Braves still 100 percent need a starter, cut the crap.

Our rotation is Fried (good), Anderson (1 career start), Tomlin, Erlin and 5th SP is nothing at the moment since we dont need a 5th SP until next week sometime where we should add someone by the deadline. Braves 100 percent need 1 SP, probably need 2 SP if we're being completely honest. It's a miracle we have the record we do given what the rotation is.

Changeup looks good, fastball was solid. Anderson at least throws strikes, which all our other SP's not named Fried dont do.

I said we need two starters.

I was pointing out aa can use some leverage now. That is all. Yes it’s one guy but one guy is 20 percent of the rotation. Playoff time probably 25 percent. That gives you a better bargaining position.

But work on the reading comprehension.

to be clear, there wasn't anything relatively close to a consensus on Anderson having "control issues." that narrative was based mostly on his struggles at each new level, which got ironed out as he pitched longer on that team. FG never mentioned any issues to my knowledge. the stats are broken down by level on FG and a few bad early starts can skew them as none of them are particularly large samples.

based on some of his minor league numbers, you would have expected to see more wildness out him yesterday. we saw him spike some balls in his last inning, probably due to not pitching a game for almost a year, but he was right around the zone all day.

Newcomb's minor league numbers weren't much worse, BB-wise, than Anderson's. but there's clearly a huge difference in their control. this is why, despite the numbers, i trusted that Anderson didn't really have issues with it. it was rarely brought up in scouting reports, and while overall i'd say numbers > "eye test", sometimes numbers can be misleading and actually seeing a guy can provide clarity or context. i saw no evidence of control issues yesterday. of course, it's only one start.

this is not to say i think Anderson has elite control or anything, but that it's not something i worried about. his control is and always has been just fine.
