I’m guessing it’s due to his age and natural regression but Morton has unreal starts where no one can touch him mixed with ones where he can’t command any single pitch and has to force a few cookies down the middle. So strange

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's just an age thing. The highs are not quite so high, the lows get a little lower, there's more inconsistency from start-to-start and within starts, the mistakes get hammered with a little more frequency, etc. The overall performance is still mostly fine, but the kind of start-to-start excellence we saw last year isn't there any more.
