Man, the Giants let Long hit for himself again. Not exactly waving the white flag, I guess, but...it's not not waving the white flag, you know what I mean?

I follow a few games on Gameday and I have seen this quite a bit in the NL. I imagine with two outs and short benches, teams figure why use a bullet if the odds are what they are. That said, this is the 7th inning and the marginal value of each inning increases, especially when you're behind. Everything depends on the score and the move can be justified (if tenuously) earlier in the game. With the expected adoption of the DH, we won't have to worry about it going forward.
