GDT 8-29: Marcell Wants That Cake and Ice Cream

In 2020 the braves played 60 games, so throwing out his rookie season, Acuna has played 75% of the games in 2 of his 7 seasons

I can only post it for you. I can't read it too. Perdomo on that contract is a huge piece, but I would require more. Not sure if they have it. To be honest, I don't know if they'd do it... Acuna is one bad knee tweak from being done
If they add Carroll and Marte to the deal maybe it'd be worth considering.

I would absolutely trade Acuna and do it this offseasn. I would have done it at the trade deadline. I dont trust his value to hold up. Teams like the Tigers, Mariners, and Red Sox could make good offers without crippling their ML team. From Tigers I am asking for their top 4 prospects and Cris Rodriguez.

I’d also like to point out that before this year’s unsustainable downturn tanked his numbers, Acuña posted a wRC+ of 137 in high leverage situations for his career. And that’s with an 83 mark in 2022 coming off the first knee injury.

But, cherry picking stats and overreacting to small samples because you have zero emotional control can be fun I guess.

How many career high leverage situations does he have? Hitting leadoff for 90% of his career couldn't have afforded him to many opportunities.

How is career stats cherry picking? You literally threw out sample (cherry picked).

Acuna in high leverage the last 6 seasons...
2020: 1 wrc+
2021: 88 wrc+
2022: 83 wrc+
2023: 119 wrc+
2024: 65 wrc+
2025: -38 wrc+

The most damning stat during this period though is he's played 75% of the games exactly once the last 6 seasons. Damn

Hell, they should consider it. In the end, I don't think anyone would pay the immense price tag for an oft injured player
I think should he break down, it should be as a Brave. The system is looking up. I'm not trading him unless MY perceived value would be met. It won't be in my opinion.

I posted his career stats with the link. He's a choker. Plain and simple
I know you're emotional during games, but you've got to consider context dude.

Acuna only has 248 career PAs in high leverage situations, because around 90% of his career PAs have been in the leadoff position.

He could literally hit 3 homers in his next 3 PAs in high leverage situations and his high leverage OPS would be about .900 this year.

]I agree with the last 2 sentences.

Availability is a huge deal, and Acuna just isn't available enough for someone to pull the trigger on such a huge package. And the braves can't sell him for anything less

Let's see it. I wanna see it. I wanna see our best player be his best in the biggest spots, and I wanna see him on the field more than 60% of the time.

Injuries are a valid criticism. But stop acting like he isn't one of the 5-10 best players in baseball.
If you could pick 5-6 players going into next season, you'd really pick Acuna? He's immensely talented, but he wouldn't be one of mine.

1. Skenes
2. Judge
3. Ohtani
4. Skubal
5. Witt
6. Tatis
7. Crochet
8. Maybe I take Acuna here

ETA... I can't read. Yeah, 5-10 is right.
