GDT: 8-4-13 Braves at Phillies (Brooms Ready)

Wood not only won us the game tonight, he won my week in my H2H fantasy points league, and the #1 seed in the playoffs. Here's hoping the Braves can also accomplish #1.

Zito needs to stick to dissertations on the correlation of UZR and DRS and leave dissecting mechanics to people who watch the games. Or played and coach a little.

Was honestly on a bit of a hiatus with my first newborn son just being born 6 weeks ago... He's had some minor health complications so with that and graduate school I've been more of a reader than poster at the moment. But things are calmed down and I'm glad I found this all out. I can't believe everything that happened over there in such a quick amount of time. What a downfall. Thanks for all the hard work to preserve the fun and quality of the board in a diff location.
 
Zito's UBR is at -6 right now.

He gets any worse around -8, we could be looking at joining the ranks of Patio, Shanks, blaren, grissom96, tally (R.I.P.).

Is anyone impressed with how this team is fighting back from behind to win games the last few days?

We were down friday then came back. We were down yesterday 3-0 then came back. The other day we were down 5-1 and clawed back. Usually when we're down 5-1 I kind of get a sick feeling in my stomach. I'll be at work and check on my phone to see we've tied or are up a run.

Before we were making last second comebacks, now we're proving we can do it in the middle of the game too.

More impressive than the Braves streak, is this board's. The GDT beat it's division rival with a score of 470-1!!

Am enjoying the discussion, the other place has been turned into a complete wasteland.
 
Why dont we just like Alex pitch good, and love it for as long as it lasts and not worry about changing anything

I am very impressed. I said a few weeks ago this team lacks the focus, intensity, and killer instinct it needs. These past 10 games, we have had that and I hope we keep it. We wont win them all, but its encouraging to see us 11.5 games up and guys jumping around on Saturday when Uggla beat out the DP.

Im hoping he becomes a regular in the rotation ala Mike Minor. Havent seen enough of him yet to determine how good he will be, but he impressed me last night.
 
As long as those mechanics don't ruin his career he is going to be at worst a number three starter. That stuff is legit. His changeup rivals even Minors changeup.

I don't think we are getting an Ace for that package and I don't think it would be wise to trade Gattis. We all have to remember he is still learning and for a guy that can play C/1B/LF on the bench that is really valueable. YOu can still get him 300 AB's next year plus pinch hitting duty.

That's what a good offense and bullpen can do for you. I believe the Braves have the most come from behind wins in the NL if not the majors.

That package is just for starters. Those 2 would be the headliners, but to my point, I wouldnt want to trade either of them for one, but would love to hear peoples take on it. I think if this team had a TRUE ace, it would be lethal for the next few years, but Im not sure im willing to give up what it will take.
