Gwinnett Stripers web site reports that Anderson makes rehab start tonight, Ynoa follows on Friday. Therein lies a better manager.

For those with tunnel vision, Gwinnett's manager this year is Matt Tuiasosopo, who is only 35 years old. Damon Berryhill, the Stripers' manager from 2017-19, had been announced as not returning before the 2020 season was cancelled.

Sure is nice to have a team of actual major leaguers.

AA is a fantastic GM.

Just a nugget I learned from scout and good friend a couple of days ago - AA was extremely aggressive during the Trade Deadline, especially looking for a big-bat OFer (The Fan interview confirmed this as well) and high-leverage BP arms. The main reason AA has been conservative the last few years is he has wanted to wait and grow the system and be cautious given the international sanctions. Now that they're lifted, he's comfortable going big knowing that the farm will likely be replenished on a more consistent basis. He was indeed in on Gallo, Marte (to a lesser degree given he's a rental and the A's were willing to pay a large cost), and Mullins and spoke with the Pirates on Reynolds. Had Ronald been healthy, he likely goes all in. Take it or leave it but I'm 99% sure this is accurate. He showed me a paper trail, which was really nice.

That was sort of my take as well. I really do believe last year would of been the year too if it wasn't for covid. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Hopefully we can land a big bat for the OF in the offseason.

Honestly, I went to bed last night when I got the alert Martin allowed the game tying run. It was a pleasant surprise to wake up seeing we came back.

Earlier this season, it would have been a 4-0 or more loss. This team would not have battled back

So I was thinking more about the 8th and why Twit didn’t pinch hit Joc sooner. And maybe the dude was playing chess here. So if Joc replaces either Duvvy or HerRaideA then louy could have just walked him to load the bases since the go ahead run was already on 3rd. So then that leaves only Smith or Fried as your bench options in a tie game and that is not ideal. It seems twit was right on not using Joc until the pitcher spot in that inning.

Is it possible that someone is coaching this guy or is that an old baseball knowledge thing that twit just knows. There is no way he used RichRod on his ow. In the fifth. That was way too smart of a move for him.

Bryan Reynolds would have been the perfect fit. Controlled for 4 more years and is a switch hitter that can hit for power and average. Hopefully AA goes hard after him in the offseason. I know he’ll cost a ton but we don’t have a lot of holes on offense going into next year.

The international sanctions really messed things up big-time. It's not like everyone we would have signed would have made an appreciable difference, but the resulting depth would have created greater flexibility.

Im not sure I buy Reynolds being for real.

Agreed. That was a hard hit.

The Marlins and Braves were the two biggest teams in on him, apparently. There may be more but that's the best he could get from folks familiar with the situation. If it's me, I'd trade for Reynolds, keep Joc and re-sign d'Arnaud.

2022: Acuna RF - Freeman 1B - Reynolds CF - Riley 3B - Albies 2B - d'Arnaud C - Pederson LF - Swanson SS

Depth and the Braves, more so than many other teams, have hit on high-end guys well in the ID. One or two more good players completely change a system.

I think it's the function of the short bench in the current game. It was a roll of the die to a certain extent in determining the proper time to employ Pederson, but he was the last real bullet that we had.

The Pirates finally appear to have someone in Cherington that knows what he's are doing and I would be surprised if they traded Reynolds and if they do, I think it would require a haul that would far exceed our ability to meet. We aren't getting him for Waters/Acuna and a couple of our better pitching prospects. I fully expect the team that lands Reynolds will have to give the Pirates current major league players under similar contractual control as Reynolds. Only one of those we have that's a position player is Riley and they already have Hayes. I think we'd have to add either Anderson or Fried to the package and probably throw in another prospect. Reynolds may be overrated (I have no way of knowing), but he's going to be a hot commodity in the off-season.
