GDT 8/5/2021 Braves @ Cardinals - Leaving Mediocrity in the Rearview Mirror

This is the point in the game where we would be screaming not to let the pitcher face Albies and Soler. Let’s see if the Braves capitalize.

Haven't actually looked at the stats, but it seems we've been pretty awful 3rd time through this season. Seems they go straight to hr or nothing mode 3rd time to see a guy

Right now Touki is at 75 pitches, about to face the pitcher and guys with the platoon advantage. If you made the decision to let Touki bat last inning, you have to let him face the RHH coming up because you’ve just declared Touki is a 90 pitch guy at that point.

Punting a PA for 2 additional innings from the SP is an acceptable trade.

Whether or not Touki is a 90+ pitch guy is open for debate, but that’s certainly what everyone wants him to be.

Wow. Touki did a nice job bouncing back. Don’t know if that says more about him or the Cardinals’ offense, but Snit managed to avert disaster so far.

Now following the same logic, if Touki is a 90+ pitch guys, and he doesn’t come to bat this inning, the logically consistent move is to let him go until Carpenter comes to bat.

Some hard hit balls that inning. Nevertheless, two runs and three hits in six innings against a guy who has been released four times this season.
