GDT 9/1/19: Twitner strikes again

Just bad luck that Bellinger is having such an incredible year. As good as Freddie is, Bellinger has him beat in every catergory pretty much except for RBI

Freeman has more hits and runs scored too. He’s only 4 homers behind Bellinger and .06 points in average. It’s actually a really close race. Rendon has a strong case for it as well.

It's actually not close. Freeman isn't even the best player on his own team.

Freddie's closing the gap, but Bellinger has a better OBP, Slugging, more walks, fewer strikeouts, more SBs...just a crazy year. I didn't realize quite how good until I looked up his #s

He has. He’s been a bit more average in the second half but he’s definitely had a great resume this year.

84 wins now with 24 to go. Just going 12-12 in the remaining games would put us at 96 wins. Nats have 27 games remaining. Going 14-13 in their remaking games would put them at 91 wins. So if we just play .500 ball from here the Nats need to go 19-8 to tie us and 20-7 to pass us. If we go 16-8 to win 100 games the Nats would have to go 23-4 to tie us.

Braves have done great to tear through the weaker part of their schedule. Unfortunately, Washington has kept pace.

The next two games are really important to take care of business, since the Braves will only be favored in 1 of their next 10 games against the Nats and Phillies (per Fangraphs).

Same fangraphs that puts at 88.3% to win division?

Yes. The same Fangraphs. Obviously if I am looking at head to head favorites, I am going to know where to find the division odds. The Braves have been in a great position to win the division for two months now. That part is undeniable.

I’m just trying to illustrate how difficult this upcoming stretch of games will be. If we can hold serve over this stretch then the division will be secured.

For what it’s worth, the Braves have made 5.5 games up in the standings on the Dodgers in two weeks despite the Dodgers being the better team. That shows me how safe a 5.5 game division is. The Nats are still a threat in the division.

The next 2 weeks are gigantic. This weekend especially obviously biggest series of the year but gotta take care of Toronto these next 2 and hope the Mets can help us out a little bit since no one else seems to want to beat them.

I dont think the division in hand like alot of people think, 5.5 game lead with a month left is alot of baseball. Nats on paper do have the harder schedule minus a series in Miami.

the gnats are a threat but soon the Metropolitans will deliver a death blow unto them
