GDT 9/11/23: Braves @ Phillies - DH Game 1

My printed schedule before the season had this as an off day with the series Tues-Thurs. Did they change this at some point because of the DH? I never heard of MLB changing offdays in the schedule during the season.

Announcers said make up from a rain out in June.

Jackson Stephens missed basically the first half of the season but has pitched well sinc eh came back in July (2.70 ERA).

Might be a good McHugh replacement as a long guy in the pen.

Ahh I found out what it was. They moved the original game from Thursday to Monday to accommodate the Eagles Thursday night game at home. It was scheduled for 4:05 but that could have posed a problem with traffic coming in and out of the complex.

A runner on 1B with Riley/Olson/Ozuna coming up is more valuable than the stolen base...no matter what dinoSmoltz blabbers.

I enjoy listening to him talk pitching, but I wish they could muzzle him when the Braves are up to bat.

It would be better if his pitching comments didn't involve him ignoring the fact he was the exact type of pitcher that would have thrived in the modern era. Listening to him pretend he was some sort of cerebral pitcher rather than a power arm is maddening.

I do wish we had statcast data back when Smoltz was in his prime. I bet he was even nastier than we remember.

Charlie threw about a dozen more pitches than necessary in the top of the first. At least the back to back walks didn't blow up in his face.
