GDT 9/13/14 - Braves at Rangers

We better fire the hitting coaches too.

Pendleton for manager!

Braves front office is definitely going to go through a massive overhaul. There is too much riding on having a good team going into the new stadium.

If he's serious about his "everyone is accountable" talks, then someone is taking the fall. There is no excuse for this garbage.

If the Braves were serious about things, a lot more things would have been done already. It's all a bunch of talk. We have continued just like this for more than four months. Not one damn thing has been done. Hitting coaches not replaced. No flexibility given to the GM to go out and acquire someone. Same damn stupid approaches at the plate. Same damn idiotic managerial decisions. We are going backward. But it's OK because we're a young team.....

I could see this coming, but I never thought they would go belly up like this. They had to give BJ another year and Uggla had to go no question but this is mind blowing. 2015 may prove this year to be an abberation but we need more offensively out of Heyward and Simmons. 60-75 RBI out of Heyward is just not enough, Simmons just needs more discipline period. The rotation needs a bonafide stopper. Julio has shown his youth by having meltdowns of late when things go wrong.

Julio needs to persevere more, but when you have no offense, and the defense fails you, it is extremely difficult to be effective.

I hate this, but I'm glad the collapse is being completed before the final week.

I don't think I've witnessed a worse team offensively. This is going to be an interesting offseason. I expect massive changes. I know people are saying they won't do a damn thing, but I don't see it that way. They've given Fredi, Walker, and BJ enough opportunities.

Before Teheran today, last #Braves pitcher with a complete-game, no-earned-runs loss was Greg Maddux in 1999

It will be a massive departure from precedent, at least from the management side of things. We've shown the willingness to cut ties with players in the past, but I'd be very surprised if Fredi and Wren are shown the door.

What do you change outside of the obvious? I don't have a problem locking up Freeman and Julio. Getting rid of BJ won't be as difficult as feared but still have to pay him. I also see us parting ways with Gattis as well. They probably bring Johnson back even though they shouldn't. Heyward is most interesting, I think he is dead set on playing in front of his granddad in NYC no matter what we do.

Wren is the genius who constructed this team. Anyone who thinks he isn't to blame at least partially is kidding themselves.

Everyone shares in the blame. BJ and Uggla are Wren's screwups. Other than that, what's he done wrong? You can say he constructed this, but Gattis, Freddie, TLS, Simmons and Heyward are all home grown players. CJ damn near won a batting title last year and was part of a great trade. Our pitching is fine.

In order, it's
1. Players.
2. Managers/certain coaches.
3. GM

Wren seems to miss a lot more on his big signings than he hits on. Internal talent the team has always done a good job with. I can't blame this all on Wren, but he has to go. The team hit it's ceiling last season with a first round playoff exit.
