GDT 9/13/14 - Braves at Rangers

The pitching is not fine. We have lost a lot of low scoring games but we have lost several leads as well, we had a stretch of about two weeks where we lost a handful of games late after having leads Santana had a month of suck, Harang had a month of suck, Minor 2 and a half. That great start really skewed the stats.

Wren seems to miss a lot more on his big signings than he hits on. Internal talent the team has always done a good job with. I can't blame this all on Wren, but he has to go. The team hit it's ceiling last season with a first round playoff exit.

I'm gonna say give him one more year with the understanding that he needs to make some smart, big-time moves in the offseason.

But I don't really see what a different GM does at this point.

I don't see how much better Teheran and Wood could be at this point. Minor had a bad half and has been better lately. I'm not 100 percent sold on him because I think he needs to grow up mentally, but give him the benefit of the doubt. I don't really know what else people realistically expected out of Santana. He's been about what I thought he'd be. Harang has been a bit better than I thought he would. I don't expect either of them will be back. Hopefully we acquire a good starter and the other spot is left to young arms/Medlen/Beachy. Bullpen has suffered from not having EOF and Avilan/Carpenter struggling. And Walden can't keep the freaking ball out of the dirt sometimes, which leads to Gattis screwing up back there.

Yeah I mean I wouldn't even know where to start as to finding a new GM. While I would like to see him replaced, I understand if they don't.

I agree on JT and Wood, and Minor has figured things out but it's a little late. Where Washington beat us was when they pulled the trigger and got Fister. That gave them a solid four we could not match long term. We need a frontline starter in Santana's place and hope Meds can take Harang's spot.

Wow. I agree with all of that. :Gasp:

I would like to see a bigger name, but yeah I'd say Floyd's name is on the radar. For that matter, I would say so is Santana's, but at our price.

It really is sad that we are playing the worst team in baseball with so much riding on these games, and seem completely lifeless.

I think the only way Medlen contributes is if Benny Hinn is sitting next to him in the dugout. I think Harang has really stepped up, but I don't think he'll be back and he probably shouldn't be.
