GDT 9/2/13: Mets (Matsuzaka) @ Braves (Maholm) 1:10 PM

Mark Bowman ‏@mlbbowman 53m

The last #Braves player to record more than five RBIs in a game was Jeff Francoeur who had 7 on April 12, 2008 vs. Washington.

I am shocked by this.

Hard to disagree. I think its Freeman but he is right there for sure.

BTW, did Mitch Williams really say that?

I didn't witness it, but Twitter blew up because of it. There's a great twitter feed called "heard on MLB Network" or something. Great lines.

Geez, I knew Williams was anti-Braves but that is insane.

He also said the other night that he would take Igelsias over Simmons saying he had more range.

I don't think he's anti-Braves. I just think he's an idiot.

I knew Williams wasn't bright but that's embarrassing. I almost feel sorry for him. I might really do so if not for his Philly connection.

Great signs out of BJ lately. Just wish he played teh defense I thought he would.

Nice to see us scoring 10 runs!
and still the 6th inning!

Now Freddie will have to chance to score some RBIs in the 8th!

I'm telling you. They need to put him at second base. Uggla is a negative at the plate and in the field. There is no way that BJ would be worse at second than Uggla.

I don't know. There's a reason he hasn't been playing there all along, but for curiosity's sake, I'd like to see if he is as bad or better than Uggla. That's something for winter ball/spring training, though.

I guess you are right but this is someone that was a SS coming out of the minor leagues. Sure, he couldn't handle the position but he wasn't tried at second base because he was the best athlete on the field and CF was a natual secondary option.

Mississippi is now tied 5-5 in 6th vs Jacksonville. They're also now in a rain delay. If Mississippi wins they likely make the playoffs. Mobile is up 5-0 so far helping them out. But they still have to win to get in.

That's the first time Downs gave up some runs for us. I know he got charged with one before but someone else gave it up. I mean as I recall he had left with a runner on first that game and another pitcher brought him around. I reckon not pitching in three days and/or the big score effected him.
