GDT 9/22/22: Braves @ Phillies - Olson Dropped

This narrative has certainly evolved as the season has gone on.

Freddie played a dangerous game. The fact that he has since fired his agent suggests it didn't turn out the way he hoped.

Unfortunate, but real life consequences.

If Olson doesn't turn it around, the real life consequences are much worse on the braves' side. FF seems to be doing just fine. We gave up 2 good prospects and locked ourselves into a long deal

He hasn't fired his agent though.
 
I’m not too worried about Olsen yet but he is streaky. He was excellent for a while and overall his year has been mediocre not terrible. I don’t think he dramatically lost it permanently at the break. I do wonder if the grind of the season is getting to him or if he has something nagging going on. A day off or two could be worth giving a shot.

Not saying it is already, but if Olson never rebounds, this will go down as one of the worst decisions in Braves history.

History will always remember him choosing Olson over FF. Regardless of the truth that is how history will remember it and if Olson face plants like he has this year, it might not be survivable.

Now I think there is enough talent around this team to mask Olson’s failure. But history will not be kind on AA for dumping FF for replacement level player.
