GDT 9/24/24: Braves vs Mets - A Series of Must Wins

I think we win the Sale game but Fried is a coin toss. I’m hoping Sale gets to pitch both games. Wish they would move tomorrows game time up.
 
Great start to the series. Now let’s hope the offense doesn’t decide to celebrate by taking the next 14 innings off.

The offense didnt go off. Arcia had that swinging bunt and Olson and Razor Ramons barely got through. Money Mike was the only one stinging the ball so hopefully they all hit the ball hard next game. They seemed like they were actually having fun last night. Don’t remember them doing that this year.
 
A little pressure is off now. If we can go 3-2 to finish the season, our chances of getting in are pretty good.

If we go 3-2, DBacks would have to go at least 3-1 to finish out the season. The Mets would also have to go 3-2 to make the postseason in that scenario. How funny would it be if we had to play a make up game on Monday and the D-Backs were already out of the race. Both the Braves and the Mets would be throwing AAA pitchers the entire game. Maybe some position players too.

We also need to root for a Marlins win tonight and a Nationals loss. That would make the Royals almost a lock for the post-season and more likely to rest starters in our series.

If the Dbacks are already eliminated after Sunday then there would be no makeup game on Monday. Whoever held the tiebreaker between the Braves and Mets would get WC#2.

The betting markets would be super pissed about that. Can you imagine the Braves sitting on 89 wins and having a bet on 90 wins?

So what happens realistically? This series is the biggest in baseball right now. Moving it to a neutral sight hurts the Braves alot bc it takes the crowd out of it and playing in our park. If we play a double header Monday then both teams are in trouble bc the WC games start Tuesday.
 
Schwellenbach and Sale and pray for a hurricane! Rolls right off the tongue. Seriously though, Schwellenbach is frigging amazing. 7 innings 86 pitches 62 strikes. With this much pressure having thrown so many innings. I wouldn't blame him if he was tired and fell off. Kid is all kinds of special. It's a shame he is an afterthought in the rookie of the year race.
 
Just need Zona to drop 2 more games and KC to lock up WC so the Braves can sweep that series and then Monday is just an after thought and the Mets can be thankful that the Braves didn't embarrass them again.
