GDT - 9.29: Game 1, Nats at Braves - last regular-season series of 2023

Murphy and TDA are absolutely horrible since the break. I'd ask fried and strider who they want games 1 and 2
 
To me we already butchered this so badly. Murphy is the better player and if the better player is slumping, there is no reason we shouldn't have just done what we did for Ozuna and rosario - give him AB's to bust out. Don't get me wrong, Murphy has been bad and that's on him, but it would have been nice the past month if he got a reasonable chance to just start 7 of 10 games over a 30 day period to break-out of this. Now we are left with the most bizarre platoon and playing rotation I've seen us have in a while and frankly zero confidence in either one of them right now.

That said, at least Murphy has been good this year. TD is literally hitting 224 with a 685 ops.

Frankly this is where basic use of the DH would be nice. We clinched and these are meaningless games and Murphy / TD are both struggling majorly. Why not start Murphy at DH (or TD) and give them both a chance to get going... instead we've just let Murphy rot too much on the bench and he's stuck in this limbo slump.

It would make a little sense if TDA has actually been good but he's been worse than Murphy. It's just a very very weird situation and one that may bite us in in the ass in the playoffs.

We are literally playing for nothing tonight and C is the most demanding position on the field. Seems like the perfect time to use the backup.
