GDT: braves @ gnats 9/10

Another low-strike solidly in the zone called a ball.

I don't think "consistently bad" is a positive argument for umpires, due to in-game consistency, no matter the prevailing the conventional wisdom.

Nonetheless: great win.

Braves keep winning with no starting pitchers. Great pen, great offense.

Find a starting pitcher or two (or three) and we are in business.

Given the start of this game ... I'm pretty impressed with the grind-it-out rally.

The other point is that the strike zone is the strike zone for a reason. If a pitch at the knees isn't a strike, you force pitchers to throw the ball in more hittable zones just to get a strike called, and that's pretty bad, even if you're doing it for both teams.

Totally agree—a big part of why I think "consistency" is not a positive argument for umpires, even though it seems "fair" to a guy like Chip Caray.
