GDT: Braves @ Sillies 06/29/22

The Olson/FF swap was always a long-term play imo. FF has probably been a little better but it isnt by much and given the age difference, Olson.

Didn't we learn that AA didn't really wanna swap? Seems to me it was more of a do the best we can since FF was pricing himself out. AA did great only knowing what FF's agent was selling

ETA... I'd prefer FF, but I certainly would've been pissed if we ended up with Rizzo. Olson is a damn good player, but FF is a braves legend. Since FF's agent put AA in a terrible position, I'd perfectly fine with a really good player in Olson

It'll be good to get Rosario back so Ozuna doesnt have to play in the field, and we can platoon Duvall/Rosario while having Acuna when healthy and Harris all in the outfield. Alot better outfield defense. Matzek as well for the bullpen.

We'll never know but everything happens for a reason. I dont know if FF priced himself out, given it seems FF would of taken the 5/135 we offered him. AA was just never going to that 6th year.

I was speaking to what AA was being sold by the agent.

Ranger Suarez’s underlying peripherals have been pretty terrible this season, so of course he’s pitching very well against the Braves

I would of done 3 years with a 4th year option. The amount of 1B that decline rapidly around age 36-37 is very very very high. Freeman turns 33 in September. If we were gonna lose him, Olson was the only other option.

The ship has sailed. I know people will beat this dead horse for the next 5 years but dang.

There will always be a comparison.

If Alabama replaced nick saban with dabo, it would be a HR, but dabo would still be compared to saban

ETA... and hopefully Olson ends up being the better player, and then the comparisons will be brought up also

Harris has changed the entire complex of this team. So glad AA held onto him in the Olson deal.

I understand what he’s doing offensively isn’t sustainable but Harris is a budding star

His defense is what makes him a budding star. Has such a good feel in the outfield and incredible closing speed plus a rocket of an arm.
