GDT: Cards @ Braves 7/7

But they did that in contention years in order to improve their chances at a World Series.

The previous regime was hardly perfect but i'm not losing sleep over trading away Yepez. Would be nice to have him though, for sure.

Strider's insane, thank god AA held him out of the Olson deal.

Meh.. it was a nothing burger trade at the time.. but there was no need to trade any prospects when the team was rebuilding. The Cheaters did some things that we can praise, but them mixing a rebuild and trying to put something good on the field was dumb.

I think this is the correct answer. Guys like yepez hit one in a thousand. It ended up not being good. It happens.

Like Heyward mentioned every team has these trades. Yepez has also cooled off considerably so we don’t even know if he will be a good player.

Yepez was a middling prospect at the time. Methinks you protest too much....

IIRC, Yepez was a somewhat big international signing. He may have been a middling prospect at the time, but there was no reason to trade a 19-year old with decent upside for a 30-year old first baseman when we weren’t contending for anything.
