All depends on who you throwing the term at personally. I know gay people who are offended by stupid names, and others who aren't. Same with African Americans. Same with native Americans. I live right beside an Indian reservation, and the ones I know personally think the outrage over redskins and the old Indian logo is dumb. Hell, the late Choctaw Indian chief (Phillip Martin) here, said he wasn't offended Atlanta used "braves". He was offended they used "braves" and sucked so bad lol

I mean enscheff has clearly done that on this very board to Southerners and people who work at Walmart. Newcomb says "lol that's gay!" As a teenager and he will need to go on an apology tour after the biggest game of his career.

Note - I don't care about enscheff comments other than what it tells me about him, but the double standards never ceases to amaze

next we're going to mandate that they're allowed to marry! how ridiculous? protect much?!
gay people are far, far, far more often affected by being gay than rednecks. it's not even remotely close.

What does that bolded part remind me of? Unlike the term "redneck", I'll get in trouble if I say it.

And what do all of the ethinicities that you listed as acceptable to denigrate have in common?

In one past you validated the whole "it's only okay to insult tuem if they're straight and white" theme.

double standards?...i think you are just engaging in the usual whataboutisms...what is this apology tour...he expressed his regrets once and i believe the matter is closed

i won't get into what is inside enscheff's mind, but i enjoy handing out some "Northern Smack." Sometimes it takes the form of wondering why the main drag in Atlanta is not named Sherman Boulevard. Other times I wonder about the water supply in various locales. Anyone find that offensive?

btw i think you might be missing a particular word from Newcomb's tweets.
 
You guys are seriously making the argument that it's okay to make insulting generalizations about some groups but not others. I don't need to point out how ridiculous that is anymore, it stands on it's own.

I suppose how the word is being used matters here. To me intent carries more weight than the word itself.

I'll say on the last part, if there had ever been an historical event where people on a large scale were killed or enslaved specifically for being white and straight, I would have a much different attitude about terms singling out that demographic. Historical context does matter.

straight white males. the TRUE victim in all situations, especially if they're from the south. so tough being a straight white male. i'm surprised i made it with the road blocks and prejudice against me, tbh.

i've been beaten up for being a straight white male. they called me "straighty" and put me in the hospital.
some northern states have made it illegal for me to get married because i'm a straight white male.
they put me in a straight camp to knock the straight out of me.
i missed out on jobs because i'm white and straight.
i've been refused service for being white and straight.
i've faced a lot of prejudice for being a straight white male.

Nevermind that the current DOJ is arguing in court against the EEOC that the 1964 Civil Rights Act doesn't actually protect gays.

yeah the cops pull me over in my neighborhood all the time for being straight and white looking...i'm not entirely white but i guess i pass...what a curse

i don't think that's what anyone is looking for...but you seem to be into victimhood of privileged groups...im sure it exists, but of all the concerns in the world to make a focal point...i don't know about that...i guess everyone needs a cause
