Global Events & Politics Überthread

He has bigger things on his plate than to jump through MAGA hoops.
The POTUS doesn't "own" things
Regardless party

I'll agree with you on this part. It's a growing problem in our politics. Instead of admitting mistakes, learning from those mistakes, and being a better leader in the future, our politicians refuse to admit they made an error. I feel it's a reaction to society. For some reason the politicians that have admitted their mistakes have suffered for it while just denying any error until the media gets bored means nothing sticks to a politician.

I think it's silly that so many people want a politician punished when they screw up (note this is talking about making bad decisions as a leader, not something like sexual harassment). I'd be more impressed by a politician that admitted their mistake, did their best to clean it up, and then vowed to use the mistake as a learning experience to not do something similar again. I can accept mistakes. They're an important part of life. Refusal to admit a mistake is something I can't accept.

I'll admit I'm probably in the minority on this though.

If Trump did this we would be having another round of impeachment.

A phone call to rightfully discover the corruption of the Biden family initiated an impeachment.

These people are jokes.

Never take their moral positions seriously. Its all fake. THey stand for absolutely nothing.

Anyone that has been to a hostile country or possible spot that would need evacuation from the military knows that they charge to evacuate you out

I don’t agree with that policy but it’s longstanding and isn’t new
But also I’m not the one that screams about communism when things are “free”

But cute you’re just finding out about it

A lot of words

That literally says nothing. Just a bunch of hot air

Secretary of Defense has said that American citizens have been beaten by the Taliban. It's feeling like the Taliban is testing the boundaries. Seeing what they can get away with.

If I was calling the shots for the Taliban, I don't let any Afghan citizens through to the airport. There's no way Biden will send in troops to secure safe passage for Afghans that aided us to get to the airport and the other NATO powers have made it clear they lack the capacity without the US' aid. The Taliban should be keeping them back and waiting until the troops are gone then they have useful assets. They can make examples out of people who aided the west or they can trade them for favors from the west (e.g. releasing frozen assets, having the IMF release funds, prevent sanctions, etc).

In November 2020, the Pentagon announced the final phase of withdrawal from Afghanistan.

By mid-January, 2021, on Trump's orders, there were <2500 US troops left in country

Tell me, Twitter, how you secure and orderly evacuate a country like Afghanistan with 2500 troops?

Tump's plan was absolutely flawed and he deserves blame for his part. However, Biden became President in January and could have easily increased the US presence to orderly withdraw. Instead he bulled ahead with poor planning and foresight. There's absolutely plenty of blame to go around.

This dumbass you quoted shouldn’t have asked Twitter- because he undoubtedly got the answers you didn’t bother to post.

Almost like the airfield they abandoned wasn’t better for this in every single way, and the timing in which they did it was an even poorer choice

Criticize what you want, but this is a
pretty incredible effort here.

It’s an incredible effort to send our military c17s and hastily evacuate a mess we created with no vetting?

Lol

Imagine trying to give the illegitimate Biden regime any credit for this debacle.

The left has sunk to a new despicable low.

I blame the Bush43 administration.

However
The Trump etal briefed the incoming team and brought them up to speed on the
status of Afghanistan during the transition no doubt.
In that light yes, blame Biden
