Global Events & Politics Überthread

I once went to a Russian Orthodox funeral. It is a very interesting experience to say the least.

It's funny how everybody was concerned about Navalny but didn't give a **** about an American journalist dying in a Ukrainian prison.

Don't get me wrong. I don't want anyone killed. However, when our government allows an American journalist to be jailed for voicing a dissident opinion in a country that we are financially supporting that is a step too far.

Lesson here is, dont **** around unless you want to find out. Any country in the world that is being invaded is not going to take kindly to anyone going around saying the invaders are justified and spreading propaganda for the invader. Dont act like the guy was an innocent bystander. He chose his path.

**** around and find out.

Very democratic mindset

The rational way of handling this was for Ukraine to get the reporter out of the country and back to the U.S. instead of acting like how Russia operates.

Our country let one of its own citizens die in a foreign prison because of wrongthink.

You think Ukraine should be cool with a guy supporting the invaders and spreading their propaganda? How is what they did to him any different than what we did here to people supporting Nazi Germany or Imperial Japan during WW2?
