In the same situation here it would get the same consequences. He lived in Ukraine, he wasnt an American journalist visiting to cover the war.

Doesn't matter if he lived in Ukraine. He should have been deported and our administration should have insisted upon it.

What makes you so phony on all of this, Cajun is if a US citizen that was in Russia was arrested for pro-Ukrainian views you wouldn't have this FAFO bull****.

I find Lira's pro-Russian stuff to be trash but he was an American citizen who didn't deserve to die in a foreign prison.

Threats, lying under oath,etc, are all just speech. Ukraine is fighting for it's survival. You are crazy if you think supporting the invaders wouldn't get your ass thrown in jail here too if we were invaded by Russia or China.

Russia ain't fighting a defensive war. This is the equivalent of a pro nazi American citizen in England being thrown in prison during WW2. I got no sympathy for them.

False equivalency. Russians aren't Nazis and there are a lot more Nazis in Ukraine than in Russia. One thing I've learned the last few years is that Ukraine isn't the good guy like I naively believed at first. Ukraine and Russia are both rotten kleptocracies. We only care about Ukraine because the elite in this country use it as their money laundering playground.
