Global Events & Politics Überthread

The world is a changing.

Sometimes the human population needs to re-learn things.

Items like:

1. Crime is bad and should be punishable with harsh penalties to discourage future criminal activity
2. Not all cultures are the same and MANY are detrimental to civil society western culture is built on

We eventually re-learn these issues when academics like BL are thoroughly mocked and ignored for their idiocy.

Time to outright ignore Western Europe. Just a **** show. Form new alliances with the eastern bloc and Russia to start the era of peace.

Would have happened here if not for Trump winning in 2016. People don’t even realize how lucky we are Trump decided to run for president.

I hope he does something meaningful in term 2 to combat government overreach with freedom of speech.

But I would like to point out that the Twitter Files happened during his administration.

Come on man. Are you actually going to say that was really trumps team.

Very clear the deep state nullified Trump term 1. That’s why people like Gaetz need to be nominated in term 2.

Let’s hope he does something meaningful this go around, preferably policy.

However, you'd go to jail if you made the wrong comments about this brawl. Europe is getting crazier by the minute.

Problem with this is that they need a Trump to galvanize the population.

Not sure how a “tough on crime” conservative type is going to help with prison overcrowding, but I hope they figure it out I guess.

Would harsher penalties be a preventative measure?

While not a direct answer to your question, outlawing the death penalty seems to have had no affect on homicide rates.

That being said, I am generally for lighter penalties on practically all non-violent crimes, with the ability to wipe your record clean after a period of time of non criminal behavior. And I am for harsher penalties for violent crimes.

I think if you fixed the over-incarceration of non-violent offenders you might not even need the latter. Get the people who aren’t going to hurt others out of prison and use your staffing and resources to rehabilitate the ones that might. But I’m not necessarily against accepting both. My problem with the criminal justice system isn’t that we’re too harsh on convicted murderers and rapists. As long as they had a fair trial and the state isn’t in the business of killing people, I don’t have any objection to locking up the truly violent criminals. Same actually goes for undocumented immigrants. Convicted of a violent crime? Enjoy your trip back to some other country.
