CIA report says North Korea won't denuclearize, but might open a burger joint

"Everybody knows they are not going to denuclearize," said one intelligence official who read the report, which was circulated earlier this month, days before Trump canceled the originally scheduled summit.

In an odd twist, a list of potential concessions by North Korea in the CIA analysis included the possibility that Kim Jong Un may consider offering to open a Western hamburger franchise in Pyongyang as a show of goodwill, according to three national security officials.

It suggests Kim is interested in a peaceful gesture to an American president whose love of fast-food burgers is well known — and who, during the 2016 campaign, had said he wanted to talk nukes over a burger with the North Korean leader.

Any hopes of China helping with the NK problem are likely misplaced. China is currently doing all it can to decrease Western influence in East Asia.

China's military took "immediate action" on Sunday against "unauthorized" sailing by US warships in South China Sea waters claimed by Beijing.

China's defense ministry said in a statement that two US warships, the Antiem guided missile cruiser and the USS Higgins destroyer, entered disputed waters around the Paracel Islands before the Chinese navy intervened in what it considers to be a "serious infringement on China's sovereignty."

"Chinese military took immediate actions by dispatching naval ships and aircrafts to conduct legal identification and verification of the US warships and warn them off," Wu Qian, defense ministry spokesman, said.

The spokesman also called the US move "provocative and arbitrary," which he said "undermined strategic mutual trust between the two militaries."

Last month, Chinese ships reportedly gave a "robust" challenge to three Australian warships in the South China Sea that were en route to Vietnam.

The great disservice of the fake Russia collusion scandal is that it's not highlighting the true threat to America's security.

I'm shocked that nobody commented on this.

Glad we aren't seeing any more peaceful protest posts.

I'm sure the airstrikes on Gaza yesterday were very humane. I'm further sure that the situation there is overall very humane and morally defensible.

Chicken and the egg. What should Israel do in response to morters striking near a kindergarten?

U.S. officials suspect that dissension within the military over the North’s dealings with the U.S. and South Korea led Kim to make leadership changes, Reuters reports. The North Korean leader is believed to have replaced Gen. Pak Yong-sik, the defense minister, Gen. Ri Myong-su, chief of the Korean People’s Army’s general staff, and Gen. Kim Jong-gak, director of the military’s General Political Bureau, Yonhap News Agency reported, citing intelligence sources.

but the headline reds that Kim has "sacked"

They have been brainwashing their citizens to see America as their evil enemy for 60 years so I imagine making peace isn't going to settle well with a lot of the people.
