Interventionism sure went better for us

Actually it has. Since the US introduced it's presence into Western Europe after WWII, the world as a whole, has experienced a period of peace that hasn't been seen since the Roman Empire.

But hey, don't let facts get in your way.

And we ran an isolationist policy all the way up to Pearl Harbor. How did that work out.

I would stay away from blanket statements about whether interventionism or isolationism is better. The real world of policy making is much more complicated than that. We need common sense, wisdom and a sense of proportion when deciding how deeply to get involved in various problems around the world.

Egypt, Iraq, Turkey, and Jordan all have various forms of democracy in place, even if they aren't as stable as Israel.

Lebanon. I wouldn't put Egypt on that list. Jordan has had several abortive attempts to transfer more responsibility to an elected government. Maybe this latest attempt will bear fruit.

The UN did that and the horror of the holocaust.

Or as free. Israel is effectively our most well placed strategic ally. It is in the best interests of the US to ensure their stability.

Lebanon is weak and has a more powerful iranian proxy state within its borders

And of course when you assess the impacts of our interventionist policy in the middle east on its own then there is not much to defend.

And not the other budding democracies. I wonder why you're only interested in protecting Israel. Hmmm......

The original argument was brought up because I wanted to get out of the middle east because its been nothing but a **** show for us. It was responded to with the typical leftist comment of 'What about Israel' as if they are some evil entity as opposed to the most open democracy in all the middle east.

So aside from the fact that the Jewish People should be protected at all times because nobody has been more persecuted over throughout time; We should support an open and free democracy at all times against the tyranny of the middle eastern governments.

But sure - Continue on this Israel is bad track. Makes you look real tolerant to freedom.

Where are the neo-cons and neo-liberals now?

Amazing that once we exit the responsible parties have to actually do something.

Is the establishment ever tired of being wrong?

This will lead to a Trump landslide.

taking credit for having allies get killed and discrediting our word and standing in the world and giving Turkey and Russia what they want

what a win lol

This means nothing.

Was a peace deal brokered?

Have US troops been allowed to exit the conflict area unharmed?

Does this lead to less US involvement in the future?

Who knew that Trump would turn you into a war hawk.
