A few random thoughts on Drew.
1) Could play third as well as second. This is great because third is as much a potential problem.
2) Could potentially allow Peraza to play center. Also great because center is a big area of need as well.
3) Our infield defense would be quite strong. Nice. But would be even nicer if we didn't have a predominantly fly ball oriented starting pitching rotation. I really hope our fifth starter is a ground ball pitcher because our staff as is currently constituted is going to be hurt by our poor outfield defense (assuming Gattis in left).
4) Would reduce the odds of Peraza making the team out of spring training. A good thing imo for reasons having to do with service clock considerations and the benefit Peraza would derive from some seasoning in AAA.

#Braves want to add SP, 2B, backup catcher, thru FA or trades. Don't feel compelled to do it right away.Could wait till spring for need or 2
Guess that La Stella dude is pretty much an afterthought now.
New AJC article ahead of Winter Meetings with this quote from Hart. I'm just surprised he's making a point of mentioning Kohn. I was viewing him as AAA roster filler. Sounds like he has a real chance of making team. We certainly seem to be positioning for a trade of Carpenter or Russell.
“We came (into the offseason) looking to add some pitching to our club, and that’s hopefully what we’ve done,” Hart said. “And to do it we had to trade one of our outfielders that we like in Heyward. It was a good baseball deal, we solved a pitching hole we had, and gave ourselves something for the future. We’ve also added a bullpen guy (free agent Jim Johnson) and (reliever Michael) Kohn as well; we like him quite a bit. So we’ve been focusing on the pitching."

If you go look at his MLB numbers, Kohn was a pretty good reliever with some upside

I would MUCH rather see Carpenter dealt than Russell.
Kohn is a classic case of us picking up a guy with an electric arm and talent and hopefully turning him around. We've been good at it, I like it. Think he will be a contributor.
Kohn could be the next Carpenter. Right now we have Kimbrel, Carpenter, Simmons, Viz, Johnson, Kohn, Varvaro, Hale, Russell, Avilan and Shreve competing for seven spots.
