GM/Winter Meetings Thread

Gonna watch MLBN for a bit tonight. Wonder if they talk to any of the Braves staff or coaches.

Jason Hammel going back to Cubs for 20 million for two years.

According to major league sources, Braves officials gathered Monday for a hastily-arranged strategy session to scour the Rangers farm system. The clubs were scheduled to talk later Monday.

#Braves not eager to trade Gattis, but #Rangers could offer multi prospects from among P's Alex Gonzalez, Jake Thompson, OF Nomar Mazara etc
 
This could be interesting. IF you could flip Gattis for some long term pieces that you're comfortable will contribute in a year or two you could justify giving a big contract to Justin. This might work out perfectly.

If they trade Gattis, I don't see them trading JUpton unless they're blown away. You have to have some power in that lineup.
 
I love Gattis but i worry about his health long-term.

If we could get 2-3 top prospects from Texas, i'd do it and try to extend Justin.

Don't know much about the Rangers farm system, but after looking these guys up, I'll have to admit they are fairly impressive. Need to get a young OF and maybe Mazara would be a good target.
 
I am not really impressed by the Rangers pitching prospects, give me Mazara and one of the middle infielders and I would be happy.
