And.......

That's why you trade him

That's why you trade anybody that you have any intention of trading...instead of farting around with the appearance of contending...

So the extremely minute probability of an Achilles injury should govern your approach? I'm glad Hart doesn't operate this way. It's an unfortunate event but doesn't reflect negatively on any approach. For all we know there was no offer made to Hart.

And that's that. I still maintain that the Braves get with it. They're not going to get to the postseason. Stop delaying the obvious. However, the kids are developing...do what you have to do to keep the plan.

Keep on with the warm feelings...

But, it's a fact that the Braves have a "few" trade chips where they might get something in return and most of them are older. It's all about perspective. If you are all in to win now, then you damn the torpedoes. If you are in trade mode then you let the players build value and once they do you protect that value until you can get them traded.

Really bring this up now..........

And the farm system is in too good of a shape to give players away.

Dang, now we are stuck with non hustling Chris Johnson. Who we would pay half the salary to get rid of his sorry ass.

Might as well get rid of everyone not name Miller, Simmons, Freeman and maybe Wood.

No one should be off the table but you still gotta have some good players, cant trade everyone for a bag of donuts.

Never said they should.

I would fully expect that anyone the Braves got back would be a good player or at least had potential to be. That's why you pay the scouts. Either you trust them or you don't.

Everyone should be on the table with various price tags. The Braves set the price. If no one wants to pay the price then don't move them.

Huh? All signs point to us being on the verge of moving him. Just because he wasn't traded by July 11 doesn't mean we were 'farting around with the appearance of contending'.

And there it is, not good, at least we get him for next year.

Atlanta Braves ‏@Braves
RHP Jason Grilli has a left Achilles rupture. He is expected to miss the remainder of the season.

Tough luck for him. He's had that kind of career. Hope he comes back strong.
