Hart says "Stay Tuned"

Braves are going to continue to be aggressive. When was the last team to make so many trades in a calendar year?

And if they're smart, and things break right, we may yet get to parse a few more trade-returns.

It looks like at this point that both Grilli and Johnson could get a long term piece. I think its going to be hard for the Braves to sell if they are in the hunt at the end of July.

But, they've accumulated so much young talent as is it won't be make or break.

I think that would be a mistake. Hart sold us on the long-term; he needs to keep his eye on the long-term ball.

Would the residual value of making the playoffs this ahead of schedule for 2017 be greater than the return for two relief pitchers? I don't think we will get anything of significance for AJ and those are essentially our sell off pieces.

I don't think this team is realistically making the playoffs, anyways, but what is all this residual value even if they did? Personally, I think almost any pieces—even marginal or far-out prospects—would contribute to value to the system's depth in excess of any nebulous "residual value of making the playoffs".

I don't think we will get anything of significance for AJ and those are essentially our sell off pieces.

I think we could get a rehab-project reliever type for Pierzynski, and I think the team should seriously explore spinning off Uribe, given how well he's played.

Not true. I was sold looking long term without giving up on the present.

Now, I thought that was silly when he said it, but now that we're two games out in late June with obvious addressable needs, I want to go for it.

Unless we suck for the next month.

I'm confident enough in Hart's creativity to envision a scenario where we 'go for it' while selling at the same time.

I don't think the Braves need to give up much to "go for it" this season. What do they need first and foremost? Relief pitching. Hopefully Viz comes back and is effective. Then you rae looking for 1 or 2 6th/7th inning guys and that won't be thta expensive.

I don't think they will do anything with the positional players unlessa longterm upgrade piece becomes available.

Additional buzz and revenues is very important for the franchise. I fully believe that going into 2017 with momentum is tremendously important to this franchise.

Theres going to be enought buzz and revenue with the opening of the park. I agrree with jp if we have pieces other teams want in july trade them. Sell them off. Getting a better 2016 pick and getting more long term pieces will do better in the long run than trying to be competetive this year

Depending what happens in the offseason, not too crazy to think they could make the playoffs next year.

You can't do that to this team. They have played too hard and responded to well to wave a white flag on '15. Its getting clearer by the day Hart is positioning thing to make a run at 2015. Not to sell out run but things have changed.

Absolutely. This team could sign Price and Upton or Cespedes and be right there in the playoff talk in 2016.

But in 2015 i hope they deal Grilli and some of these veteran types.

Next week, and today vs Harvey will tell alot.

If they have a rough week, probably gotta sell.

But if they are still within distance, im not sure i'd make trades just for the sake of making them.

And adding a veteran bullpen arm wont cost much.

My bad, our 2016 pick is this years season, you're right.

Regarding your second part, i'll leave that up to Hart, Coppy and co, if they sell, cool, if not fine.

If that were the case they wouldn't have just traded away $10M of payroll flexibility for a distant future piece

I disagree: you quite certainly can do that to this team, and moreover I very much think they should. They're plucky, sure, but falling a few games short of the second wild-card in 2015 is not the prize for this organization at this point in the rebuilding curve.

And indeed, quite simply, I just don't believe this is a contending team in 2015: I think they're ultimately a little bit worse than their record has shown, while I think the Zombie Expos (painful as it is to say) are a lot better than their current record shows. I also think it's highly unlikely either wild-card comes out of the NL East.

This is a fun team to watch, but I think it takes some pretty rosy lenses—if not a bit of delusion, frankly—to think they're a serious playoff contender. Hart should squeeze whatever value he can out of the short-term veterans, and then maybe in 2016 the team is primed to seriously contend for a wild-card slot.

Agreed. We're a product of the crap division - which isn't likely to continue.

In fact, I believe this series is our first series win since the beginning of May. We're still under .500. It's a not a serious contender.

But stranger things have happened.

I'd be ok with making a deal to improve the club as long as it was also for beyond this year
