Yes, still got power, still got weed, still got plenty to drink and eat here. Not gonna trade that for a bunch of maybes.

Dad finally convinced to leave. getting ready to start walking . going to use a blow up mattress to try and transport cat. Water coming in the house now. we have been told high ground is close so we are heading there. won't be able to post again till I get some Wi-Fi, if phone survives this.

**** getting really bad down here. News has said they are going to release some water from the same to keep them from overflowing. That's supposed to be 2-4 more inched on top of the rain. still have power amazingly. we are setting up a camera inside so we can view it remotely.

most likely my last post for atleast a few days.

Godspeed friend!

this is off topic, but why do people listen to and follow joel osteen? it's remarkably clear he uses the church and its tax shelters to make himself a ton of money. do people believe he believes the BS he says? he lives in a $10MM mansion - didn't jesus preach against that kind of thing? i just don't get it. just another phenomenal aspect of religion, i suppose.

I try hard to give clergy the benefit of the doubt, but there are a couple of things that will make me really skeptical of a church every time I see them: wealthy pastors and billboards or commercials with a big blown up image of the pastor.

I don't want every pastor to take a poverty vow and live in squalor, but the bible they preach from says it is easier to thread the eye of a needle with a camel than for a rich man to get into Heaven. Practice what you preach.

As for the jumbo pictures, you are supposed to be humble, a messenger and mouthpiece of God. Your giant smiling mug on the side of I-75 or I-20 doesn't give me confidence that you are taking that to heart.

And the people that follow him is like them following Lucifer/Satan. Satan does preach the word of God to suit his purposes, exhibit A: J. Osteen.

If you ever saw the old show Battlestar Galactica 1979 version (War of the Gods I and II), Count Iblis is like Joel Osteen, promises promises until your soul is his and he smite you in the end with eternal damnation/destruction. They explained him as Diablo/Mestipholes which is Lucifer/Satan in the old Hebrew text I believe.

We have our share of black preachers that do this but we are more skeptical in that part to when we call them out like Creflo Dollar.

Wow, a 1970s Battlestar Galactica fan. I knew you were an alright guy!!! :)

As for Osteen's appeal I think it's simple, his books, sermons, messages, etc., are always (at least from my limited sample size of observation) very positive, upbeat, uplifting, etc. and people need to be uplifted. I think that's why he's so popular. Now as for the rest, rather than me condemning him specifically I'd have to say that any church, pastor, or Christian who talks the talk, the words of Jesus, the positive sounding commandments and messages but when it comes to helping people in the real world they close their doors, I'm fairly sure that Osteen isn't the only one guilty of that sort of thing. We all fall short of measuring up to our charge as Christians, but it should be pretty obvious, at least most of the time, when someone is really in there trying to do the right thing and when they're just a charlatan, or a scribe/Pharisee as it were.

The problem here is I"ll bet you Osteen's followers are defending his actions even now, but what about those who follow other pastors who aren't really doing anything more than Osteen, those who are calling Osteen out now (and probably rightly so)? Can/will they do the same when it's their guy talking the talk but not walking the walk? Just curious.

This is the main reason why I cringe when Christians get really involved in politics. They seem to always follow the instructions of their political leader and quite often lose sight of their spiritual foundation, especially when they get their "manna" from a religious person who has sold out to the religious-political demons of the world for a few moments of fortune, fame, and air time.

okay I am safe. My Dad called 911 when water started getting in the house nd I convinced him 1 foot of water in the house was best case scenario. He kept arguing that was worse case. 10 minutes after he called 911 and they told him it would be hours before anyone came out a boat came by. I flagged them down and they got the boat to our doorstep. Almost literally had to drag my dad out of there kicking and screaming. He decided to start preparing to leave after calling 911 which boggles my mind. he went to sleep with water 2 inches from the house and never gave a thought to preparing to leave. So I have the boat there for 20 minutes as he keeps trying to do other ****. It got to the point where we had to tell him we were leaving with or without him. He is one of those people that thinks everyone is jealous of him and **** and thinks everyone in the mobile home park just sit in their homes waiting to loot his stuff. He built a fence just because people were walking through his yard..... in a mobile home park.

anyways, got a hold of my brother who lives on higher ground and owns a ridiculously sized truck. My Dad for whatever reason instead of calling him before we were rescued so he would be on the way or at the high ground to get us my dad waited for about 30 minutes after we were rescued which very nearly left us ****biut of luck because the roads were getting worse and there was an 8 pm curfew. 30 minutes later and we would have been stuck at a gas station all night.

House is totaled. Vehicles most likely totalled. We got a repair guy who is going to come tow our vehicles to his shop and try and drain the water, replace the fluids/sparkpugs etc. Hopefully it drives. Don't care about water damage to seats and ****.

Glad you're still alive man!! Keep safe and head for that high ground and hang on tight.

house still has power amazingly. We have security cameras so we can still see in. We could have stayed there. It's still drizzling there.
