Hello, Atlanta

Thanks for finding and posting this. You know, we as fans all too often forget the emotions that players must feel during a trade in-season and Kemp's blog post came across as wholly genuine. The naysayers may say it won't change his production one iota - and they are likely right - but I for one will root for players like Kemp who are excited about playing for this team. That last paragraph was chill-worthy.

Good stuff.

And we fall for the "home town boy" story-line yet again.

You all realize this is just another version of the "best shape of my life" stories we hear every offseason, right?

Did you even read the ****ing article?

Besides, I don't think anyone is "falling" for anything. We can't enjoy a nice write-up by a player?

Yes it's something you take with a grain of salt. I'm sure everyone is aware of that.

What would be different if we read the story and didn't fall for it?

That was a pretty awesome read. Hopefully the Braves are serious about winning starting next year and bring in the talent it will require to break in the new stadium with a bang.

Nothing, but as long as you all realize that getting all misty-eyed over a story like this is exactly why the Braves traded for Kemp. He was acquired to make casual/ignorant fans think the Braves are actively trying to improve without committing any meaningful resources towards the MLB roster. He is not a good player because he is getting old and has hip problems and other injury issues.

He is below average, but will hit a few HRs that make the fans ooooh and aaaah. And then he will misplay a flyout into a double in the bottom half of the inning to give back the run he just scored.

Playing for his boyhood team isn't going to change any of that.

Thanks for enlightening us.

Who *issed in your Corn Flakes (this morning, I mean - someone apparently does every day lately)???

It was really nice to read (and rather refreshing) that he's happy to be here. My main concern was that he might become a distraction because he wouldn't embrace playing for yet another rebuilding team. No one mentioned the first word about him suddenly turning the Braves into a contender, yet you act like everyone thinks that just because they're not down on the trade with you.

Why are you so angry?

Anyone on this board during this unbearable rebuild knows the real deal, that we're biding our time. Yes the casual fan will love the name on the back of the jersey and the HR's. I hope there is a lovefest for him because that will mean more tickets sold and hopefully higher payroll in the future. The fans who follow closely will also enjoy watching someone who actually wants to be here during this pathetic time.

You're not enlightening the board with your infinite wisdom. You're sounding like a grumpy teenager who just realized it's cool to be a non-comformist and not care about anything.
