Some of the details on Olivera are particularly interesting . . .

A few teams have checked in on Nick Markakis but recent struggles don’t help trade chances … Atlanta doesn’t have a great lineup, anyway, but under-performance by Markakis plus Inciarte, Erick Aybar and even Freddie Freeman has hurt … Kelly Johnson could be available, too, though he provides leadership and there’s no obvious replacement. Heck, everyone can be had, with the possible exception of Freeman … Julio Teheran is drawing a lot of interest. But Coppolella insists, “I expect Julio Teheran to be on the team a long time.” … The Hector Olivera domestic abuse case was said to have been “bad,” so the 82-game suspension reflects that. So far commissioner Rob Manfred hasn’t fallen into the same trap as Roger Goodell with his silly penalties for serious offenses … Olivera incidentally was shopped in spring, before the incident, to no avail. The Braves are now mapping out a very serious plan for Olivera to work for women’s causes … The Braves will pay a significant portion of Jason Grilli’s remaining $2.6 million, but they were likely to release him, anyway … Alexi Ogando’s name is coming up a lot in trades, and he could be the next to go.
