I think I was just using the term as used in the article. Why exactly are you avoiding the point in the Douthat paragraph I posted? Odd that.

And why does it bother you that I'm having an exchange with Y? So much so that you give a snide remark here? Why do you interact this way so much? I know I can get snarky, snide and condescending when something someone posts is over-the-top in it's ridiculing beliefs I hold. Gets under my skin.

I wasn't really trying to be condescending with the Douthat link and quote. Didn't intend to pontificate. Does it come across to you that way? And are you responding in this ridiculing way because it did?

But as far as "liberal" as I used it, I basically mean the term in a rather positive light - you are for high wages, good work place standards - caring for employees, and for works of charity and relief and service to others, a sort of anti-Gordon-Geico idea. Makes sense?
 
The 4th word of the Douthat article was a code word. And that, was pretty much his point

Actually the article I think you meant where I saw pontificate was the WaPO article on the IRS "scandal". (the point of it escapes me also.)
Maybe pontificate was a poor choice of words. In this case

I guess I am really not a liberal by your definition. I am for an equal wage, where works of charity and service to others is really not an issue
 
I don't think that is what I was "offended" by. I think it's your tone that was troubling. I just don't understand why you use it so often when you interact with me. I know I fall into that trap - so don't hear me wrong, I'm not saying you are the only one. I suspect we could have a pleasant exchange face to face. Why is it in this medium we turn to ridicule and snideness and the like so easily?

To make it simple, if you are Conservative, he hates you. If you are a Republican, he hates you. If you say anything bad about a liberals, he hates you. He has been doing this for 10+ years. His world is without Christians, with Conservatives and without Republicans, he thinks they are all cancers to his Orwellian way of thinking - total government control.

57 would be a king in his world and everyone his subjects and subject to his and only his rules, that is how he posts. You do not agree with him, you should be executed is his line of thinking.
