In such discussion memes are much worse than emoticons. At least emoticons can be used to try to clarify tone. The purpose of memes seems always to be to mock/ridicule an opponent or opposing view. I mean I guess there's a place for mocking/ridicule sometimes, but doesn't have to be a near constant drumbeat?
