How do the Braves find bats for 2017 and beyond?

The one who makes the most sense to me is Soler. RH bat who can draw a walk, has some pop, and under control. Supposedly the rumor was we were asking about him when the Cubs were asking about Julio.

Michael Brantley for LF would be very high on my list to go after.

The only thing about Brantley is that he's a lefty and I'd rather have a righty slugger... but looking at his numbers against lefties, they don't really suffer too much... still a .700 ish OPS compared to a .900 ish OPS against righties.

The Pirates may be a possible trading partner this offseason. They have Marte, Cutch, and Polanco now. Willy Garcia should be ready next year. Meadows and Ramirez should be ready in 2017. They also have Josh Bell who they've moved to 1B, but probably has more value as an OF who should be ready next year.
Their rotation next year should be Cole, Liriano, Locke, Morton, and Glasnow and everyone is signed for the next two years, but they don't have much depth in case of injury as their prospects are bat heavy right now.

The Pirates do have some young outfielders we might want. But who do we have that they would want. I would have said Peraza to possibly play short when we had him.

If they want some starting pitching depth there is a glut on the FA market. It would make sense for them to sign one and start Glasnow in AAA next season.

Yeah. I thought about that too with Peraza. Unfortunately their needs are SS and 1B.

Just throwing this out for consideration, not necessarily that I would do it but would THINK about it....

Freddie Freeman to the Pirates for OF Austin Meadows, 1B/OF Josh Bell and C Reese McGuire. Then sign Chris Davis as a FA to play 1B.

Not sure the Pirates would do it because of Freeman's contract, plus they might just want to sign Davis instead.

I would rather them sign Chris Davis and flip Bell to us.

But for who?

I doubt very seriously it would be Williams Perez or the like.

I dunno. I'm open to trading Teheran, CB, Sims, and Sanchez who all have value. It's so hard to predict actual trade details without knowing the other team's philosophies and how they view their current depth.

Brantley and Cargo should be our top choices, imo. And we should also target a RH hitting catcher with pop. If you can't find the RH catcher, I'd look into McCann if the Yanks truly wanted Wieters.
