To all the Republicans and conservatives wringing their hands about the Clintons. You CAN beat them, and there's a simple way to do it—be better.

Promote and elect smart, compassionate people who are genuinely interested in running the country. Demonstrate an actual commitment to pluralism and to encouraging voters rather than suppressing them. Quit purity-primary'ing the people in your party who seem to want to lead. Quit pandering to the worst instincts of your base.

Hillary and Dems like her are eminently beatable. You just have to be better, and right now you aren't. Seriously. Put up or shut up.

I also think it's hard to deny that Barack Obama, regardless of his faults, is a "smart, compassionate [person who was] genuinely interested in running the country"; and he's likewise been—to a fault, in some instances—committed to compromise.
