Gonna level with you, I find this to be an employer issue. The chances of a migrant simply pulling the wool over an employer’s eyes for five years are comically low.no, because if I used a fake SSN I would be accused of committing a crime

So when the employer pays the painter cash under the table, you expect the painter is sending the IRS their owed money?Gonna level with you, I find this to be an employer issue. The chances of a migrant simply pulling the wool over an employer’s eyes for five years are comically low.
Again, you’re first describing an employer-led issue. I simply have more tolerance for the guy failing to disclose the earnings than the business owner flagrantly violating labor laws. And that’s really less of an immigration thing, I’m just deeply committed to strong labor protections. It’s one of my main issues and both sides suck at it.So when the employer pays the painter cash under the table, you expect the painter is sending the IRS their owed money?
Isn't that the law
Yall keep saying they are law abiding contributors but they broke the law to get here, and haven't paid any federal taxes since. Both of these would make sturg33 a criminal but Pedro is good.Again, you’re first describing an employer-led issue. But honestly I’d be on board with requiring a hearing and some sort of restitution of that sort being expected for continued residency. I think the solution is to help those that have been here working and positively impacting the community to go through a process for some sort of probationary legal status, and I’d actually be fine with requiring payment on any delinquent taxes for the process, but I don’t see how it wouldn’t be a mighty expensive fucking process to figure that out.
If you got paid low wages under the table, I wouldn’t advocate for anybody punishing you either.Yall keep saying they are law abiding contributors but they broke the law to get here, and haven't paid any federal taxes since. Both of these would make sturg33 a criminal but Pedro is good.
And the insane left continue to heap criticism on the government for enforcing the law rather than the protesters who are burning down cities
Ahh so they are also victims being here after they chose to come hereIf you got paid low wages under the table, I wouldn’t advocate for anybody punishing you either.
No, they just can’t report earnings because they might get hauled back to their country of origin. If we’re playing out a hypothetical where you’re considering a path to staying legally, it’s absurd to excuse them being here illegally but not excusing them not self-reporting their illegal under-the-table wages to the federal government. Would you rather they go rob people instead?Ahh so they are also victims being here after they chose to come here
What a bargain. Get to break our immigration laws. Get to avoid federal taxes. Get all of our federal benefits for free. And get to claim they are oppressed by evil capitalism
Thank you for arguing the absurdity of the idea that they should not be deported based on breaking our immigration lawsNo, they just can’t report earnings because they might get hauled back to their country of origin. If you think every illegal immigrant should be deported regardless of their conduct here, that’s your business. But the burden to not pay someone illegally is on the business and I can’t follow you on the journey of treating this as some crucial aspect that undermines the whole argument for amnesty.Thank you for arguing the absurdity of the idea that they should not be deported based on breaking our immigration laws
"Dude! Do you actually expect them to follow other American laws that citizens must follow? That would get them in trouble!"
Last year, my staked bitcoin paid me 6 figures of interest. The exchange did not withhold any money for federal taxes. If you think every illegal immigrant should be deported regardless of their conduct here, that’s your business. If you were a peaceful protestor mqt, what is the immigration policy you would be advocating for? How would you suggest we police and enforce the existing immigration laws? What should the border policy be?
As much as I agree that the US immensely benefits from the contribution of immigrants (both legal and otherwise), there is a line that must be drawn. The line that I see being drawn at these demonstrations is a bunch of signs that state “abolish ICE”
I already answered you. In the case of someone being paid under the table, I would treat Pedro and Peter the same. I wouldn’t blindly punish Peter or deport Pedro for failing to report low wage cash payments. But I would fine the business doing it.I'm still looking for an answer
I'd imagine you'd agree with me above that me withholding my interest income would be breaking our tax laws, correct?
Why do you believe Pedro should be allowed to do that but sturg33, a tax paying citizen, cannot?
