Impeachment

I would love someone to ask them why Pence being President is a reversal of the election. His name was on the ballot too. Specifically the spot that replaces the elected President if he is unable to do the job. They act like Hillary suddenly becomes President if IMPOTUS is removed.

And honestly, it gives them a much better chance of holding the office. I am sure the "church first" crowd would turn out in bigger numbers than they will for Trump.

The Dershowitz argument that:

(a) The president believes his own election is in the public interest
(b) The president is allowed to do things in the public interest
(c) Therefore the president is allowed to do literally anything that helps his own election.

is so goddamn stupid that I'm struggling to even come up with a hyperbolic metaphor to describe how stupid it is.

All they need is 34 senators.

It's shocking how simple and unceremonious the death of a democracy can be.

So IMPOTUS unveiled a Middle East Peace plan that was met with laughter but it raises a different question for me. He announced this in a press confrence with Benjamin Netanyau...... the Prime Minister of Israel...... who was recently indicted for Corruption charges. Funny how we have no problem giving aid to a country with a corrupt PM and its not even worth a mention by IMPOTUS?

To which I would ask Dershowitz "So if the next President of the United States thinks that it is in America's national interest to leverage aid to Israel to force them into opening an investigation into Alan Dershowitz, without even mentioning this when the vote for aid takes place, that would be perfectly legal?"

I also think someone at the trial should point out Jay Sekulow's runs an organization that advocates for imprisoning gays. The constitution isnt his best subject.

When I was a kid I always thought the notion that the USA might fall or cease to exist or at be fundamentally changed was a load of bullcrap. But I think the events of today may be the first step down a dark path that could lead to a Trump dictatorship. The refusal by Rs to vote for witnesses shows the US Senate has no credibility whatsoever and the WH move to stop Bolton's book just confirms guilt and makes us look one step removed from a banana republic. If you think he will just leave when defeated in November you haven't been paying attention.

Lamar Alexander retiring a coward.

Basically says yes Trump did it for the exact reasons he's accused of, but we don't need to hear from anymore witnesses or see any evidence. Also says not the senate's job to get rid of him for doing something inappropriate.

Collins says she'll vote on witnesses and evidence. Romney likely yes on witnesses. Still need two more for 51, because if it's 50-50 Roberts won't break the tie.

What happened to this guy. Can I please have this Rand Paul back please. He was supposed to fight the endless corruption, not join it.
