Impeachment

this characterization made me laugh:

Eric JN Ellason

@SlickRockWeb

In Republican Devin Nunes opening statement, he chose to peddle the

insane conspiracy theory that Ukraine helped Hillary lose the election to later

then have the ability to smear Trump after he won

and pin it on Russia (Say What??)

along with Jordan ----- these are the (R) "stars"

Is it any wonder Schiff tried to keep these proceedings behind closed doors for so long? Any evaluation other than an unmitigated disaster for the left is a fallacy.

Because it makes common sense to not turn it into a circus while it's still in the fact finding stage. fcs

Which part is a disaster? Pelosi and Schiff are proceeding carefully and methodically.

Thethe refuses to accept the clear evidence in front of him but believes every conspiracy theory from any idiot on Twatter instantly.

Democrats needs to keep hammering this home. Republicans are crying about not getting witnesses unrelated to this case but refuse to let relevant witnesses testify. Typically when someone is innocent, you would want as many witnesses to testify as possible. What is he concerned they are all going to lie about him? Literally the people he works with every day......

Over 50% of Senators believe there should be an Impeachment trial , roughly about the same percentage as the country. Or put another way, the GOP controlled Senate doesn't have the votes to stop the trial if it comes to them. That's shocking and does not bode well for Trump.

“Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, my client may be guilty as hell,

but the prosecution’s witnesses lacked pizzazz.

You must acquit!”

How do you think it will bode for the Democrats if the impeachment fails?

I realize this tweet is a joke but it's probably more true than we'd all like to believe. Juries frequently make decisions on the most ridiculous of things. They'll ignore what an eyewitness says because the witness "looks shifty" or they'll believe someone obviously lying because "He seemed like a nice young man".

This all will be doubly true in an impeachment process. It's supposed to operate like a trial. In reality it operates like a circus.

Once watched a movie called Beyond the Sea. The story was of a Vegas style singer from 50s -60s that tried going to Vegas with long hair and jeans singing what was then called protest songs.
He was booed off of the stage.
His wife told him to try cutting his hair wearing a tux and singing the same songs because people " hear what they see!"
He was loudly cheered his next engagement

however in this case, should (D) operate these proceedings with "pizzazz" they would be lambasted for showboating
I like many saw Rep Welch as the "pizzazz" yesterday

Depends what you mean by "fails"

Impeachment is a foregone conclusion
Trial in the Senate is day by day closer to being a foregone conclusion
Removal is still dicey
Bear in mind we are only one day into hearings

The refusal to remove Trump from office despite him being a blatant

nat'l security threat is entirely about people choosing

racism & white supremacy over democracy. Trump got elected running

on racist conspiracy theories about nonwhite immigrants & the first Black US prez.

After Clinton impeachment, Bust took the office, after impeachment and party flip, Grant took the office, after threat of impeachment that was preempted by resignation, Carter took office. No one who was impeached has been removed from office as far as the president goes. I don't think Trump will be. I do think the dems are doing this in a hope to expose some republican senators in 2020. Reality is that Trump being in office doesn't matter to the dems aside from the national embarrassment, it's the republican control of the Senate that's pissing them off. If they control the house and Senate, Trump can be in office and everything he attempts to do will get shot down.

One school of thought is (R) donor class has used Trump for all he is worth --- and had a belly full
Many more displays like yesterday ...
Sad to say this is all in their hands.

Should their money decide to rid him , he is gone

Trump gets tons of cash from small donors.

that is not the point

I'm glad you are finally acknowledging the establishment that Trump ran against and won. The momentum is too strong. It cannot be stopped. After the next four years dont expect to see the last of the trump presidents.

Trump lost by 3M votes and save foreign influence on 5 targeted districts we would be hearing how HRC should be impeached for xyz

Trump polling 40% mas o menos
(R) polling in the low 30's. Hard to amass a sustainable mandate with numbers like that,

djt may get re elected, I dont know, but I will go out on a limb saying Ivanka,Don Jr or Eric will never sniff the Oval office or any other hall of American power once their father leaves.
They will be sitting outside in the hall waiting with Sarah Palin, Marco Rubio and Chris Christie
