Indiana....

I'm sure you know where I'm coming from, but I frankly don't think it matters why a business doesn't want to conduct business.

Having said that, the thing that irks me the most is the Zitos of the world will rail against the gay bakery example, because he defends gay marriage... But he will not support the KKK example, because it is not something he agrees with. The hypocrisy gets so old.

Most Christians believe that marriage is a religious institution, and not a government one. I tend to agree. Additionally, Christians see marriage as one man and one woman. So I can certainly understand why they don't want to put their name on something they spiritually are against, can't you?

Muslim bakers do the same thing (watch the video above), but nobody seems to care about that

Just get government out of quote-marriage-unquote and be done all this bull**** wrangling.

If you don't want to sling 'za at my bacchanal, **** you.

"Colorado officials rejected discrimination claims filed by a man who was refused service at three bakeries because he requested cakes that included Bible verses calling homosexuality a sin, according to a decision released last week. Critics of the ruling argue it runs in sharp contrast to a decision in 2014 by the same agency, which declared a Christian baker cannot refuse to make a cake for a gay wedding ceremony.

Bill Jack approached three Denver-area bakeries last spring and asked for two cakes, both in the shape of an open Bible. He presented a drawing showing what he wanted on each: “God hates sin—Psalm 45:7” and “Homosexuality is a detestable sin—Leviticus 18:22” on one cake; “God loves sinners” and “While we were yet sinners Christ died for us—Romans 5:8” on the other. All three businesses—Azucar Bakery, Le Sensual Bakery, and Gateaux Pastries—refused to make the cakes. Jack filed three claims of discrimination with the Colorado Civil Rights Division (CCRD).

The case drew a firestorm of media attention in January when Azucar Bakery owner Marjorie Silva talked to the press about the discrimination claim. Some outlets initially misrepresented Jack’s request, claiming he asked Silva for a cake with “God hates gays” written on it.

...Supporters of the bakeries are claiming victory, but Jack said he acted intentionally to shed light on the inequitable application of Colorado’s anti-discrimination laws.

“I believe that these bakers should have the right, and do have the right, to refuse me service,” Jack told me. The law in question, Colorado’s Anti-Discrimination Act, makes it unlawful for any place of public accommodation to refuse service to someone based on disability, race, creed, color, sex, sexual orientation, marital status, national origin, or ancestry.

“My goal is to expose the hypocrisy of the application of the statute,” he said...."

He is exactly right. The hypocrisy is astounding

I find this condescendingly dismissive. Yes, his words address the issue of sexual sin, of which homosexual unions would be but one manifestation.

Ok, noted, but that doesn't answer my question. Why is this, the civil bond between two individuals of the same sex, where the line is drawn, and not around other "sexual sins"?

Is this a thing you're actually mad about?

When a bunch of arrogant pricks try to bully you into giving up your livelihood, more people are going to quickly come to the defense.

Oh right.. it's bigotry because they don't agree with you!

Yes because so many people have pizza places cater their wedding.

Why would someone want to pay for " cakes that included Bible verses calling homosexuality a sin ..."

That is something that happens everyday ?
////

Kinda like making a point for no other reason than --- making a point.
This is not a real life problem . As in

"I am having a party and I would like to have a Bible verse written on our cake"
" Oh like the 23rd Psalm or John 3:21"
" No, actually we want the cake to read “Homosexuality is a detestable sin—Leviticus 18:22”
"You do undrstand you will be eating this cake and offering it to your guests?"
"Yes, we eat cake with anti - ... at all our parties. You know, anti contraception was our last theme"
"oh ... "

/////

McDonalds sells coffee that burns people to diguise the taste and that is a "frivolous lawsuit " this is Christian themed and not held to the same standard ?
Gotcha

Whether something common is not makes no difference.

Also, zito - the company is not discriminating against a gay person. The company is choosing not to participate in a gay wedding. There is a difference

So then if they don't believe in interracial marriages they shouldn't serve them? If they don't believe in Interfaith marriages they shouldn't serve them?

I still want to know the number of weddings this pizza place catered. I'm guessing the number is really small.

THis just reeks of conspiracy to me. Some right winger asked food businesses if they would shut their doors and publicly say it was for a gay wedding. Most people didn't care, so they wound up with this pizza place. I'm also guessing their backers were the biggest supporters of the gofundme campaign. Maybe it's just me believing that most Americans have enough of a heart to not give more money to hatred and instead be inclined to give it to people who actually need it. Like people with rare forms of cancer, and survivors of terrorist attacks.

That's right. I'd bet my life savings they wouldn't participate in a polygamous wedding... Is that bigotry?

Not sure why this matters. Also I've been to wedding that was catered by a pizza place... not everyone wants to drop $50K on a wedding, and I don't blame them

That's a really dumb hypothesis in my opinion. And the hatred comes from the LGBT side... who demands you do as they wish or you will pay the price. And I'm curious how much of your own money you've given to cancer and terror charities? It better be the leader of things you spend your money on, or else don't tell others how they can spend theirs.

Polygamy, oh boy this is going to be good. They protect the gay marriages, but if you believe in polygamy, the hypocrisy comes out for those for same sex marriages will defend against it.

This is why I say do whatever the heck you want if it is government related, one spouse, same sex, many spouses, many sexes, but the church and religious beliefs should be defended at all costs because if you strip their beliefs away then there will be no church, which is their goal.

If you allow gay marriage you have to allow polygamy. Don't see how that can even be argued against.

have at it

not sure why you or others think that example will change my view on what consenting adults do or be allowed to do though

good

i'm down with it

would be a better example if the christian bakery didn't serve people with tats or farmers that plant different crops near each other or wear 2 different threads etc

but so be it
