A year ago he was a generational talent in just about everybody's eyes, now you're starting to hear more chatter that he's just a very good international prospect - its OK to acknowledge that.

Doesn't mean I don't want him, or that he's still not a really good prospect - but you definitely hear more people being a little cautious with him. That's all. He's obviously still highly thought of.

Who are these 'people'? I've seen one article, and it just mentioned it as something 'some people' are saying. I haven't anyone say it themselves.

Compared to his ERA of 3.99 that suggests a little bit of bad luck and actual progression from his time with the Dodgers last year. So outside of the 70 innings with the Dodgers last year there isn't much to complain about or anything suggests he's falling off.

Just wait until we find out Kiley McDaniel was a Braves plant during his time at Fangraphs to hype up our international targets.

You have the article just posted, there was also a BA chat that didn't seem quite as high on him as they used to be.

There's no need to be so defensive about this; he's obviously still a HIGHLY regarded talent, but there seems to be some pushback lately when it comes to calling him a generational type talent. Not a big deal.

What about the 3.5 ERA he had with the Braves last year in 120 innings? I guess only his time with the Dodgers matters? No chance he improves? Oh wait he has a 3.5 ERA outside of his first start this year? Just horrible numbers. Certainly #4 worthy.

At the end of the day it's one persons opinion. I've also still seen reports that say he's the Next this..or Next that. He is clearly the best International talent around and that is great and good and awesome and all those things. He's spoken of as being a generational talent....Still...

"If you were to refer to Kevin Maitan as the LeBron James of international baseball prospects you wouldn’t be wrong." (Ralph Lif****z - That last name is real).

Point is...I'm' sure he's a man amongst boys. You can see it in his videos. But IF he inks that paper with the Braves, I'm hoping as we all are that he's that generational talent. There's no shine lost in my opinion.
 
I think what gives people pause is that people seem to think he is maxed out from a body type perspective, but that doesn't change his age or ability. Maybe his ceiling a bit, but it really doesn't tarnish the skills he has right now as a kid. The knock seems to come from a fully developed body at what 16? That I don't get or put much stock into.

I take anyone being compared to Chipper, and Cabrera with a grain of salt anyway.
 
His body "type" may be maxed out, but you can reckon that his strength and build will fill out,especially under pro supervision in our system.

Wouldn't it be cool to have our own Giancarlo Stanton one day?

Stanton not looking too hot this year. His young career thus far has been up and down
