International Signing Day: Results, Rumors, Spec

MLB clubs have been told they cannot negotiate with the Red Sox prospects and probable prospects yet... the Union is making sure they have agent representation first. So there's still a small chance there. Otherwise, there are still a handful of top guys not linked with any one specific club. I'd like to see Vladimir Gutierrez, but its likely a pipe dream.

Does anyone know the time line for this?

Some Cuban players aren't even cleared yet. It's the 2016-2017 period so it could, in theory, be strung out however long the players want if they are eligible. As far as the Red Sox mess... I don't think anyone has a clue. It was just announced and it only broke a couple hours ago that clubs couldn't negotiate with them yet.

What are you talking about? I was just stating a fact. 16 year olds are too far away to factor prominently in rankings. That's just a fact.

I'd imagine it comes from most of your posts being negative as heck.

Great timing by Coppy, imo. Signed a lot of talented kids today. Also nice to see the team not hesitate to pay the "tax" on them.

Good job Braves! I reckon that by fall of 2017 half these guys will be in our top 30 and our farm will be balanced and deeeeeep.

Yefri Del Rosario isn't on the list the Braves officially released or confirmed by Baseball America. Wonder if someone jumped the gun.

Neither is Pena... I think they just haven't been officially announced by the club. I think it's legit

I don't know if these have been added yet so here goes

Jesse Sanchez updated his post to add the following players.

Lisandro Santos LHP (17 years old, Dominican Republic)
Antonio Sucre Outfielder (16 years old, Venezuela),
Outfielder Jefry Ramos (17 years old, Dominican Republic)
Outfielder Franger Carrillo (17 years old, Venezuela),
infielder Braulio Vasquez (17 years old, Dominican Republic),
catcher Adrian Adrianza (17 years old, Venezuela) and
Catcher Victor de Hoyos (18, Colombia). years old

When does the Yankees penalty years end? If we are in a penalty year and they are not when they add an international draft I guarantee MLB will take draft picks from us.

Pena isn't old enough to sign yet. He turns 16 in a few weeks and the deal with the Braves will be announced then.

Also pretty sure we have indeed signed del Rosario for close to $1m. Don't know his age but maybe he isn't 16 either which is why it hasn't been officially announced yet. I'm not sure why it hasn't been announced, just speculating.

That brings the total number of players signed by the Braves today to 15. I'm fairly sure that is more than any other club, including the Padres.

Yep, just checked. The Padres signed ten players today, which is the second most after the Braves.

That's odd. Both Ben Badler and Sanchez tweeted we are. Who is correct?

No Sanchez nor Badler said it. Was another guy tweeting international news. Former player and reporter... Forgot his name. But he even tweeted a contract amount

NM, I thought I saw Badler mention it but my memory sucks. It was a writer at talking chop that said we are expected to sign Del Rosario today. Also, you are right it wasnt Sanchez who announced the signing but some other guy but that guy gave out contract terms making it seem legit. His other signing tweets were legit making me think the guy knows what he is talking about.

When did Shanks say we aren't signing Del Rosario? His tweets haven't said that.

He posted that on the scout forum in response to someone saying he'd signed with us. Here's the quote from Shanks: "del Rosario has NOT signed. It is possible the Braves sign him, but not likely."
