Is Free Speech Under Attack in this Country?

To be clear... You can't be a cheerleader for the tyrants for 6 years... The cry like a.little bitch when the blowback finally comes

**** y'all.

You can’t be a miserable **** about free speech being under attack for 6 years then cheer for people being banned for violating Twitter rules. You’re a ****ing twat.

But the bots are damn-near universal. This was a left-wing talking point like 2 years ago.

Oh, I certainly believe the Bots are universal as I believe the Globalist order is universal in the sense that it has both Leftist/'Conservative' members that are put out as figureheads to create the illusion the people actually have power.

While I find that exchange hilarious, I agree with Elon on this. His tweet thread on banning people who change their name takes away a major concern I had with the new verification policy and I hope that particular process works out.

Elon is doing a tremendous job rolling out improvements to the business model.

Heck - The business model before was about how to make a completely non-profitable POS to cover for the fact its the intelligence apparatus disinformation machine.

I disagree so far, but I’m really, really unconcerned with whether or not Musk can succeed in running Twitter. I find everything he’s done so far to be about neutral. The question is going to become if he can keep his own ego in check enough to keep advertisers happy. I don’t think there’s a robust enough market for verification to offset a loss of advertising revenue, so what he does in the coming months will play a huge role in his success. This will be exacerbated by the fact that verification will almost immediately lose its (albeit stupid) luster. The thing with status symbols is that they stop being impactful when they’re widespread. I think you’ll see a spike in revenue for 2-3 months with people excited to be verified like their idols and a massive reduction across months 4-6 in that revenue, which will then need to be filled with advertisers again.

He doesn't need to keep advertisers happy.

He needs to create a product that generates a high amount of daily active users.

Advertisers will be crawling back when Musk fixes the business.

There’s a very, very thin tightrope there. I don’t think there’s much room to grow as a product for a site like Twitter or Facebook. Damn near the entire internet-capable world population already frequents the site.

I think thats a fair point in that many people are using it but many people are also turned off by things like BOT activity and of course the outrage against selective free speech police.

Musk is a brilliant man and has surrounded himself with brilliant business people. I have a lot of confidence that its going to work out well for him and the advertisers will be crawling back after the initial 'The New Outrage' is over.

From a purely financial standpoint, I think this concern is overblown by a select number of small accounts. When I go on Twitter, I generally just browse my feed of who I follow and then hit up the news/search feed to see if anything of note is happening. I might find myself annoyed with stupid accounts like Jon Cooper, but it’s so easy to ignore them. Actual bots are of even less concern to me as a user of Twitter because they’re either easy to spot and ignore or more likely I just don’t see them in my day-to-day. Most of these concerns are about the power dynamics across the site rather than the average user’s experience.

Bots ruin the quality/quantity of real discourse - I think you are severely underestimating the negative impact Bots have to this type of platform.

It's also a poor knowledge of social media profits. The reason Facebook makes sooooooo much money is they are ad brokers. They make money from people selling ads to us.

So again, I’m fully on board with these perma-bans, but it’s going to be super duper rich watching these people suddenly give a flying **** about Twitter’s TOS.

Nobody is up in arms about Twitters TOS - Its about the selective application of said rules.

That would make this less about “free speech absolutism” and more about you not liking who made moderation decisions. That’s fine, but you might want to get off your high horse if that’s the case.

'Free speech absolutism' is completely thrown out the window when rules are selectively applied based on political beliefs.

But isn’t it “your side” supposedly doing the banning? Right now we should be seeing the absolute part, right?

Is Elon 'our side' or is he a neutral arbiter that saw the obvious violations of free speech and felt compelled to do something about it?
