Is Free Speech Under Attack in this Country?

From what I hear, havent watched the segment, Tucker said Moscow Mitch threatened Trump with conviction in the upcoming impeachment trial if he pardoned Assange. I take that with a grain of salt since this is coming from fake news media though.

Will Wilkinson has not been kicked off of twitter yet. Weird, huh?

He is still on Twitter but he has been fired from his employer...

72 hours after making fun of people about cancel culture not existing.

This is really bad for society that people get fired for stupid jokes on Twitter. Maybe when it inevidibly happens to lefties they will think twice about pushing it so hard

An interesting case. One of the reasons often given for studios dropping actors who have been "cancelled" is because of the reliance on public good will and popularity actors have. If an actor is going to spark protests and boycotts, they wont make money for the studio and so it's a business decision to drop them.

Here, this woman was an editor for the NYT. Her journalistic integrity is part of that and more importantly the public's perception of her integrity is part of that. If the public loses confidence in her journalistic integrity then she can become a liability to the NYT.

However, simply being an editor at the NYT shouldn't muzzle you. I generally disagree with taking negative action against someone based on their speech.

I guess what it comes down to for me is whether this twitter account was her own personal account or one she used for her job. If part of her job is to post NYT stories on her verified account then I'm okay with NYT dictating the content of that account. If this is just a private account that NYT has no part of and she's tweeting as an individual, then I think the NYT is in the wrong. Journalists can have personal opinions and feelings and yet not let it impact their work. It is possible.

This speech isn't free, but I'm sure the former President loves to see people exercising their 1st Amendment rights.

Governments not respecting our rights happens every day. Thats why libertarians like myself want the govt to have much less power. Yall should try it sometime.

Meanwhile, a society that doesn't value free speech doesn't really have free speech
