ISIS

Here's what I believe. If I walk up to you in a bar and punch you in the face, then there should be a reasonable expectation that you or your friends might punch me back.

If I kill a man, there should be a reasonable expectation that his family may want revenge.

It's called "blowback." A common term used by our CIA. And many of the attacks we have suffered have been attributed to blowback per our own government (such as a 9/11). Osama explained the reasons for 9/11. Go check them out.

You can't just impose your will on other countries and not expect some sort of reaction. We've been doing for over a century. Now, when they fight back, we call them terrorists, and kill more of them. So more of them fight back. And we kill more. We're their best recruiting tool.

It is an undeniable fact that they want us to bomb their areas more because it is the best, easiest way to garner recruits against us. There are a ton of problems over there, and if we were to back off for decades, it would hardly solve it. But we definitely play a hand in it, and have for a while. We've been involved with different groups/countries for so long, sometimes supporting them, and then later fighting them. We're pretty damn corrupt in our own ways. We are undoubtedly responsible for some of this crap against us, and in general over there.

So we are just going to ignore the ideology that these people subscribe to and the implication their success could have on the world?

This is what happens when people are taught to have an unhealthy respect for religious views.

Again - go read Osama's explanation of the reasons behind the 9/11 attack

You don't think that every single word that Osama spoke had a particular purpose. He was (may still be) a brilliant man. Everything he did had a purpose.

I agree and disagree. While I myself am not religious I think the message can be healthy. Sadly, an unhealthy violent message is being taught in the middle east and now around the world in the form of radical Islam.

If it was all for religious fanaticism as you promise, why would they hide that fact?

Solicit sympathy among other nations while ensuring that they do not fear similar acts against them because they do not share those beliefs.

I'm not saying he didn't mean what he said in that message but to just assume that everything that comes out of his mouth is the truth is truly naive.

And it is being accepted without comment (by most) because people have been taught to respect religious beliefs without question.

I'm sure he did have his reasons. That doesn't justify anything. And he was, in fact, a terrorist and a coward.

The U.S. suddenly acting all buddy-buddy isn't going to stop them from trying to attack us. Diplomacy has no place among radicals. The best you can do is send a message that you won't be bullied.

Exactly. Let's go kill a few hundred thousand more - show them we're the good guys and their the monsters!

That's what happens in war. What exactly do you suggest since you seem so high and mighty? Let them keep attacking us and do nothing about it?

In part I think you are correct. But it is still strange to me that often the ones who show as much respect as they do to one religion don't for Christianity. I give Bill Maher kudos for pointing out the inconsistency.
