Would I believe that the Braves had a realistic interest in keeping him by offering him a contract that was well below market value? That type of sentiment only works on sentimental types. Its easy to see through. I'm glad the Braves were honest enough to not offer a fake deal to placate to the fanbase. We aren't children. Braves could not afford to pay what Heyward is worth on the open market and didn't believe he was worth it to boot.
