Jecki Lon Memorial Star Wars Thread

The prequels don't need to be remade.

That's ridiculous. Leave them be.

We already have the tv shows that Disney considers canon anyways.

I'm not talking about changing the stories and the plot concerns etc. But changing when the movies start and removing certain unnecessaries. Like 10 year old Jake Lloyd flirting with 18 year old Natalie Portman. And mainly fixing the writing and directing. Seriously watch this, it's creepy

Uh Oh...

JK. Doubtful there's anything there but it is interesting. It would explain why Kylo is so obsessed with Vader. And in the old EU (which Disney says is no longer canon), there are Dark Side users that found Vader and Sidious' DNA and cloned them.

In the novel of Force Awakens Snoke says he saw the fall of the Empire. He's no ta clone. And yeah all the old books and comics are no longer canon. It's the movies, Rebels and Clone Wars, and the books and comics that have come out since Disney bought LucasFilm. I think Tarkin was the first book or somewhere in that time frame.

It won't happen. Just like Han shooting first is no longer canon. There are rumors, though likely true, that part of the deal when Lucas sold the company was that the first 6 movies (including the OT special editions) be the basis of the new canon.

I don't think it would either. But just an interesting thought.

Yup. The march towards getting into the top 10 all-time adjusted box office starts now. Also of note that since Star Wars was made in 77. Star Wars franchise now has 5 of the top 10 box office movies when adjusting for inflation. Only one to miss the cut was AOTC.

What I'm seeing have them not in the top 10 But top 20.

Another thing to consider is rerelease money. You know that there will be a decent amount of money coming to TFA in rereleases in 2017 and 2019 in reshowings.

I really hope in 2019 there will be a massive 9 movie showing.

Yeah it's not in the top 10 yet but should get there when it's done. Yeah a massive marathon would be nice. Also have to expect A New Hope gets another release in 2017 for a 40 year aniversary.

I really enjoyed the movie, but it also left me kinda disappointed, if that makes sense. I don't think I will really know how I feel about this one until I see what they explain in the following movies.

Essentially, the movie was a lot of fun, but the writing was AWFUL. They managed to somehow make an exact copy of ANH, but still make everything that happens completely nonsensical. Obviously way better than the prequels, but it was bittersweet in that I left the theater feeling like it wasn't quite right.

So I was talking about the spinoffs with some coworkers.

I personally think Rogue One should be good.

I think Han Solo is gonna suck

Boba Fett who knows.

I think Rogue One could be good. Downside we know that they get the plans. Upside still have plenty of a chance to tell a great story.

And to clarify why Han Solo will suck. We saw Han Solo at a relatively young age. Early 30s would be the guess. You're gonna basically have to massively change him to make it moderately acceptable. I don't buy it though. I really just don't get it. IMO if they were gonna do a Spinoff it should have been telling the time gap between Han leaving the Resistance and finding Rey. That's the time to do it. Not make a swashbuckling movie about (presumably) Han, Chewie and Lando becoming friends.

Has anyone given any credence to the theory that Finn is Bobba Fett's son? Wouldn't really fit the timeline as far as age goes if Fett in fact dies in ROTJ. But Fett does appear in later Star Wars canon. Thoughts?

There was a picture of a Finn toy that had it labeled as Finn Calrissian. Lando is supposed to be in the next movie and Rogue One

Fett doesn't appear in later Star Wars canon. \he does appear in the EU or as it's known, legends

No but it's made pretty clear without actually saying it in Aftermath that he did somehow make it out of the sarlac pit or at least his armor does. In the book it shows some mandalorian armor that has acid burn holes all through it. So who knows if Fett made it out alive or not but his armor somehow was recovered.

Considering force awakens is the only "later" Star Wars canon after return of the jedi... yeah.

Aftermath is after it with the 2nd part of that trilogy of books due out sometime in the next few months. Also Lost Stars has some material after Jedi as well plus some of the comics.
